“Great close up of beautiful butterflies.”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

Fun to see. Time your visit, however. Too early morning, too late afternoon, and they won't be flying near you. There are excellent docents, and easy docent walks twice a day. Monarch population is increasing, so don 't think you'll be seeing an endangered species. Their life story is a charming. A must see if you are in Pismo between November and February.

“Worth visiting the Monarch grove”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

Amazing to see so many beautiful Monarch butterflies in one place. From the stats, it appears that their numbers are diminishing every year. So don't miss this.

“Breathtaking”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

An amazing natural wonder occurs between Nov - March every year in Pismo Beach when the monarch butterflies arrive. Words almost cannot describe the sight of thousands of these beautiful creatures fluttering through the air, and hanging from the stand of eucalyptus trees. It's a photographer's delight. The trail in the grove will lead you on a beautiful hike over a little wooden bridge, to the campgrounds, and ocean. Please use caution when parking and exiting your car, as the grove does not have a parking lot, and the only parking is on the very busy Hwy 1.

“Whoa!”

So pretty and peaceful! One of Pismo's little gems-especially in a good migration year. It truely is a sight, and the addition of telescopes and knowledgeable staff is pretty much amazing!

“Butterflies are free!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013 via mobile

This place is a definite place to stop on your way to somewhere else. Was in the area visiting family and had heard a lot about it. Was surprised at how small the place actually was. Most of the interesting sights are high up in the tree so bring a telephoto lens if you want some pics.
