My husband and I stayed here for one night en route from LA to Yosemite. Its the ideal place to stop over along the coast and very good value. The rooms are very comfortable, not swanky but they tick all the boxes. The view was fantastic.....the hotel is situated on a cliff top, facing out to sea and every room is facing the ocean. We had a fantastic meal in Steamers next door and fell asleep with the patio door open, listening to the waves crash on the beach. The place is just so relaxing. The pool is nice, again right on the cliff front facing the sea with two spas. There are a lot of steps to get down to the beach directly from the hotel so not for the elderly. Pismo Beach itself is a scruffy little seaside town with not much in it so we just went for a nice stroll on the beach.

Tripadvisor to the rescue...again! This was our very best stay for the price. It's not fancy but has all the basics and screams... Relax People! ;o) We only stopped one night (driving the coast down from Carmel). It's the perfect spot to stop and enjoy!

Our room was on the ground floor and we were very happy with it. Met a nice couple (staying next door) and they said their little one woke up and screamed at 1:00am (didn't hear a thing)!!! The beds were comfortable, the ocean view, fantastic, and the atmosphere - that was the best. There's a grassy area where the kids can run along and play (and play they did)! Everyone enjoyed this place. My oldest son and I took a swim at 8:30pm with no one in the pool or hot tub. The stars at night, just no words for it. We really bonded here, he's 11, with not many words said. It's "the feel" of the place. He did tumblesaults all the way back to the room. My feeling was, "Wow, this is different" ;o)

Also, we ordered from Steamers and just walked over for take out. Bring a bottle of wine and hang out on your patio, enjoy that view. The food was very good - especially the soup with sourdough bread.

This place was a secret at one time. Most people inland come out and enjoy the green grass, beautiful view and relax. Go! Don't expect to much and you'll be overjoyed!

We stayed at this hotel based on the reviews on this website. The hotel lived up to the best reviews and more! Although this hotel is "no frills" (we figured out that is why it was so reasonable in cost), it is the best hotel in Pismo!! Normally for a hotel like this you would pay $300 plus a night. We paid approx. $160 on a weekend. It is extremely clean and every room has an ocean view. We got in on a cancellation since they are booked every weekend all year long. We asked for a room on the 2nd floor so our view would be even better of the ocean, which we were accomodated, however, we didn't need to be higher up for the spectacular view. The 1st floor has just as good a view and leads right out to the pool and spas which my kids used the whole time we weren't on the beach. The beds were very comfortable, which usually isn't the case for hotels. Plus we had a king bed and a double. Usually hotels have 2 double beds. It was nice to have a king bed! The room had a coffee maker with coffee and frig and we could warm things up in the morning in the microwave downstairs where they serve a continental breakfast. The balcony in our room was perfect to sit outside to read, drink coffee and take in the ocean breeze and calmness. The hotel staff was extremely friendly. The restaurant next door, Steamers, was wonderful! In fact we ate there 2 times. The booths are at the window overlooking the ocean. I ordered fish both nights and all our meals were terrific! It is kid friendly too. This hotel is perfect for families. The only drawback I noticed was there is approx. 110 steps down to the beach. The steps start right on the hotel property near the pool, so they are very accessible, however, it was a lot of stairs to climb with our beach gear and 2 kids in tow. That would not stop us from going back though. We stay in Pismo 3-4 times a year and we will definitely make this hotel our hotel of choice everytime in Pismo.

We stayed here in Late May on our way to San Francisco. The reviews I had read prior to making our booking were very fair and accurate. This had been our 6th Hotel on our trip which made it difficult to be as fair as possible in reviewing the hotel. Saying that this was the cheapest but had the best view. The accommodation was more than sufficient. If we had stayed for more than one day we would have been able to make use of the fridge.

We used the pool and spa to relax in after a long day's drive but didn't have time to venture to the beach.

The view from the room is one the best we experienced on our holiday. The food and the setting of the Restaurant next day were also very good.

We would highly recommend this hotel and stay there again if we are ever in that part of the world.

First of all I want to comment on a previous comment from the family who stayed at the Kon Tiki because they heard every room has an ocean view but they were fogged in the two days they were there and couldn't see the ocean so they won't be back. I think that had a little something to do with Mother Nature, not the hotel.
The hotel isn't luxurious, no, but its very well kept, clean and very reasonable rates for an ocean view room (check the rates at the other hotels along the coastline). The staff is very friendly and vending machines are well stocked. The Hotel is positioned so that you don't see anything else around you except the ocean. It was like being on your own private island, unlike the Edgewater hotel, in Pismo, who's ocean view was just past the view of the parking lot.
We used to stay at the Sea Crest Resort just down the street but we found the rate was cheaper at Kon Tiki at the time we stayed there. I fully recomend the Kon Tiki.
