I stayed at the Kon Tiki Inn July 1 - 3, 20014 with a girlfriend visiting from New England. Hotel staff was very nice, room clean, beautiful ocean front room. I will definitely come back for another stay.

Room Tip: 2nd or 3rd floor is best for ocean view. All rooms face the water, but bottom floor is probably bes...

I've passed by the Kon Tiki Inn and have always wanted to stay there because my husband and I love everything mid-century and this place must have been glorious when it first opened in the 50s. The present decor is from the late 80s - mid 90s. Anothwewards, it's pretty ugly. However, it was clean, had a great tv, and of course there's the amazing view of the ocean. Kon really shines when the sun is out. And so does the beach. It's a great place for families because the beach and surf are perfect for young kids. Hunt for sand dollars or visit the caves under the cliffs. I can only imagine how costly and time consuming hotel renovations are but in the end it would be so worth it to return the Kon to its mid-century glory with a Polynesian twist. Hope they think about it.

This motel is a secret gem on the cost on California, I was traveling from San Francisco to Los Angles and was recommend to stay here by a friend and I'm very glad I listen to them.

The rooms are very big and spotless, the view well words can't describe how beautiful it is you must see it for yourself. The staff are very polite and helpful, breakfast is basic but very nice.

The price is fantastic considering the beaut of the surrounding area, not much to do in pismo beach area have to drive to local town for a few good restaurants, but you don't need to do much apart from sit back and enjoy the view. The ground are kept immaculate.

I would recommend anyone to stay here.

This is an adorable and well-kept hotel on the beach...well just above it, but with beach access. Pretty pool and hot tubs, and everything was very clean and neat. Lots of families, and though I asked for a room away from the pool for quiet, this was a very quiet resort in the evening, which was great. Breakfast is included. There appear to be lots of things to do in the way of activities, but we were only here for the night, and without kids. Based on other hotels we saw on our way out for dinner, it looks like we made the best choice in town! Loved it. Oh, and average room rating is only because it is simply decorated and a bit tired, but that did not detract from our enjoyment. The things that count, like bed comfort, were great.

We tend to stay at specific chain hotels when traveling. This hotel had good reviews and a very reasonable price. We booked a room for 1 night, after arriving, I booked the second night immediately. Picture perfect view and grounds. Excellent desk staff. Rooms a bit dated, but wonderful in every way. We will go back!

Called while on the road easy over the phone reservation. Drove up, nothing exciting but a big parking lot and all the room doors facing the parking lot. Checking in was fast and easy. Free breakfast and fast wifi( thank you very much !) its like that commercial the family dragging themselves through the hotel hallway and BAM! AAAAAAAAAH...... The best ocean view all for $215. After a long seven hours in the car I was more than happy to pay for this diamond in the rough. Yes, the rooms are beachy decor, but I paid $350 2 months ago at a Sheraton that had cobwebs on the pictures and lamp shades. $ 200 got my teenager and I a king size bed and a queen all in one room, mini fridge ( not stocked, shucks!) coffee in room, a balcony that faces the beach( big named hotels could learn a thing or two about how to fit two beds that are larger than a double( full size) in a room). The room was exceptionally clean, The a/c vents need to be replaced and would it kill any hotel to replace their lamp shades more frequently? These are things I always question. A great seafood restaurant next door( expensive but good). Three story motel with an elevator A nice pool with two hot tubs. Vending machines and office sells stamps and also has a couple of computers and travel brochures . Like I said not fancy, just clean and a great place to spend some time on the beach! Oh, to get to the beach there is are wood stairs, with 110 wood steps! I will be back!

Room Tip: All rooms face the ocean. Bring your own beach towels.

We've stayed at Kon Tiki several times with family now, and each trip has not disappointed. The rooms are basic, but very comfortable. Front desk service is great. The complimentary breakfast is good for a continental breakfast. The complimentary pass to the Pismo Beach Athletic Club was also very useful. The view from each room is superb. Since we traveled in a group, we requested ground floor level rooms, which were great with a toddler. This is a hotel that books up many months in advance, so plan ahead!
