We have enjoyed KV with much larger groups so this was our first visit with a small group, only 3 of us so we didn't order a plethora of items. We went on a weekday for lunch and the large seating area was perhaps 25% occupied. As the building is older it can feel cold inside during the winter. We had their Hong Kong Style Beef Chow Mein which was prepared very well with a nice bed of pan-fried noodles that didn't get completely drowned by the sauce. The quantity of noodles, vegetables and beef were spot on and the cost is within reason. The other food we ordered were from the dim sum menu including the rice noodle rolls with shrimp and the outstanding plump chicken feet. As with most Chinese restaurants the menu is extensive and would require many visits to attempt to try all of their offerings. Restrooms are clean if not a bit dim. Though it is a bit out of the way KV definitely deserves a drive out to Pinole to give them a try.

In the quiet part of Pinole downtown with free parking on the side, we had lunch on Monday at Noon where some 20 diners were having dim sum or the lunch specials in the wide open room for 149. I was told the building was a bank because I was looking at the high ceiling's dark beams and some fancy woodwork. This time there were no children playing/crying, so the noise level was low compared to other dim sum restaurants. Seating and service was attentive. We marked the yellow dim sum list and all our selections but one came out hot and good. It wasn't until I got home and saw the menu stated "N. MSG and Low Sodium Available Upon Request", which is for the a la cart entrees. Dim sum is basically already prepared so MSG cannot be avoided. If in the area again, we may order other than dim sum.

In the quiet town of Pinole sits an excellent dim sum restaurant, just as varied a menu but at a much better price than the more famous places across the bay. From the plethora of carts a diner can choose any dish from the steamed morsels, baked selections and fried tidbits that look and taste great!

I have been going to this restaurant for awhile now. The food is always good and consistent. My favorites are the soy sauce moodle, shrimp fried rice and the kung pao shrimp
