“What a little gem we found in the Mountains!”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

Just returned from a 4 night stay. Friendly staff, some of the cabins are rustic but clean and have a little charm to them. Very Peaceful and quiet surroundings. The Chalet is a great location if you are visiting Pinecrest lake. A little distance for walking to the beach if you have little ones.

The Chalet is the best place to stay while visiting the Lair of the Bear. It is the perfect location between the camp and lake. The entire staff is friendly and wonderful - Quinn, Nicole, Ken, Eric. It is clean, well managed and reasonably priced! I plan to go every 4th of July week!

Nice place to go with a big family.
The wirelles works only near the office house.
All chalets are shady and you do not see the sun arises.
The receptionist was not gentle at all, he did not make me feel confortable to ask suggestions about sigthseeings around there.

I guess that around pinecrest chalet should be better places to stay.

This resort is in the national forest, about 3 miles from Dodge Ridge ski area. We were there in February. The cabins are well stocked, full kitchens, coffee provided. There is a fireplace with firewood. There is a little stream behind the cabins, and lots of trails and recreational activities. The prices are reasonable, people very friendly.

We have stayed at the Chalet several times over the last five years. It is located very close to Dodge Ridge ski resort which allows for an easy drive up the mountain and back. The innkeepers are very nice and helpful. They are the main reason we continue to go back! We prefer to stay in the chalet cabins which have full kitchens and a cozy fireplace. They are a good size for 3 or 4 people. We have also stayed in the smaller cabins with only a microwave. These are ok, but there are only 3 places to eat within 8 miles and if it snowing hard, that can be a very long 8 mile drive and there is usually a long wait for dinner! The large log cabin is perfect for large groups. It is the newest with nice decor, kitchen and large loft.

The cabins are not fancy. They are basic decor. Some have been updated a bit and others have not. Same with the beds- some new, some not. They are older but always clean. Bathrooms are small but efficient. The grounds are pretty with a creek in the back. They plow the snow in the common areas as needed. If you are looking for a comfortable somewhat rustic place to stay for your Dodge Ridge ski trip, this is the place to stay.

Tip- there is no cell service if you have AT&T. They have wifi access in the office only and there is wifi at Dodge Ridge but again no AT&T service on the mountain.

Pinecrest is a beautiful area and we were satisfied with our accommodations. We didn't have high expectations for our cabin, but everything was acceptable. Our room had a small fridge, tiny televison and a small bathroom and shower. The bed wasn't the most comfortable ever but wasn't terrible. The chalet surprisingly had wifi but coverage was definitely sporadic.

The grounds are simple but relaxing. The very scenic Pinecrest Lake is a 6 minute drive or 10-15 minute walk. There is a general store and other services close to the lake. We thought the value for the chalets was very good.

We recommend the Pinecrest area for a nice getaway and think the chalets are a good option if you prefer indoor accommodations over a tent.

The staff worked with us and we were able to stay in a beautiful Chalet. Even though there were kids running around during the day it was not an issue - the kids playing was a comforting sound. It was very quiet at night and we enjoyed the little creek running below our chalet.
