We were at a 5 day conference here at the Sheraton and nothing was done, the staff were all yes men, tell you yes and NEVER do what you ask, the floor was VERY slippery with the plastic on plastic and very dangerous, the trash was not emptied, the water containers never emptied, and maintenance not done, they definatly do not have enough help, I will say the food was wonderful so bravo to the staff in the ball room, they did forget the sugar and ice for the tables on many days, but the buffet was great. Get more help and this will be a first class place to stay, didn't like the freeway above and the mucky water of the canal. Pool area beautiful.

Room Tip: don't book a room here, or a conference, not enough staff to run this place

The bathtub and hand basin sinks were stopped up and would not drain. The carpet was stained. The service was less than service: It took two days of complaining to have someone take care of the sinks and housekeeping would not show up to tend the room until late afternoon. We would not choose to come back.

Nice big rooms. Very clean. .... with one minor notice - some mildew on ceiling and wallpaper going through. .... however house keeping very good job. The bar prices were too high. Overall nice. Stayed one night.

It was just a one night stay for a work project. The hotel is clean & airy and my room had a pretty view of the small harbor. The freeway is under construction, as is the exit/interchange, so it's not the easiest location to find and/or navigate in and out of. I suppose that issue will be resolved eventually though. My colleague had super-duper Sheraton status so he had access to the "free" breakfast/appetizer/wine/beer room that required staying on the fourth floor (I think). The extras were a nice perk, but I wouldn't have normally experienced that. The room came with Starbucks coffee which was MUCH appreciated as I was under the weather and needed all the pick-me-up possible. The only downside was the hotel bar & restaurant. I don't recall the name- but avoid it unless you're desperate or can't drive elsewhere. We were completely zonked from the day (record heat) and tried our luck. Ha! What a joke. One bartender serving everyone (bar AND restaurant) - she was completely overwhelmed and it was her first day on the job. Uhhh. . . . okay. When she finally took our dinner order (45 minutes later), the food arrived hot and in a timely manner, but it wasn't anything special. How Sheraton didn't have more people on staff and working with a hotel this size is beyond me.

We have stayed here for 7 years in a row as production crew for the Sonoma Jazz + festival which is now sadly on hiatus. The location just outside of Petaluma near the 101 freeway is excellent. Across the parking lot is a 7/11 for last second items.West of the hotel is a supermarket, a couple of fast food joints and a bar or two. And downtown Petaluma a quite interesting town ! It is a quik 20- 30 min ride over rolling vineyard hills to beautiful Sonoma and then from there another 20 min over to Napa valley.
This Sheraton actually sits right on the Petaluma river that empties into the north end of the San Pablo bay / SF bay believe it or not ! There is a marina on the back side. Check-in was always little bumpy as the Hotel wants to 'charge' you so much a day as a incidental deposit. This could result in your credit card being maxed out if you stay longer than 6-7 days and have a not so high limit .
We having been regular 'guests' for many years would make sure management ( which seems to have a high turnover) know we spend alot of money in the bar & room service etc and to require an incidental depo from us was bad move for returning guests. Especially since the production co. paid for all rooms. They always bent and Check in would complete
The Rooms: As with most Sheratons the rooms are clean and roomy enough . Depending on you location in this Sheraton there are views to the north hills of Sonoma cty or backside over the marina. BUT remember that the backside also faces the elevated portion of hwy 101 and there is some road noise generated by it .
Since I travel alot for work and have stayed in many many hotels I am picky about room location -be careful here of getting a room looking out over a lower roof with a/c/ compressors/ vent fans etc- the drone can be annoying and makes for restless sleep.
Maid service is timely and thorough in their cleaning.
Keep your room key in a safe non-magnetic spot, as they tend to lose their code for the room door lock.
There are washer/dryers on two floors, across from the elevators. the expansive layout of the hotel can this make this a long walk though if your room is far from the elevators.

At 4 ish to 6pm there is a 'managers reception' on the top floor meeting room with free wine, sodas, juice, finger foods, salad and even pastas. The food in the restaurant and bar are excellent , expect typical hotel pricing.
There are 3 internet pc's for guests just off the fireplace seating area of the main lobby: Free of charge.
The bar while having only a limited # of seats at it, is adequate but the nearby tables take of the slack with very comfortable chairs with waitress service always excellent.
Overall this Sheraton is recommend for many points:
Comfortable and in a fairly convenient setting. Close proximity to the freeway: SF is, with no traffic 45 min away. Minutes from downtown Petaluma which has numerous bars and restaurants And when we were always arriving there in May the town throws an American Graffiti weekend since parts of the movie were filmed on its streets !
Petaluma restaurants : Kabucki is highly recommended for Sushi and dinner. Bar nightlife is good and the Mystic theatre right next door to the Kabucki, gets some really great bands. Also an awesome musical instrument shop just a block away from the old theatre with many vintage pieces of gear inside for sale.
Bodega bay is bout 45 min away -film location for much of Hitchcock's The Birds.

Overall Sheraton Sonoma is a guaranteed good stay with no bad surprises.

If our entire stay were a reflection of the front desk staff and the restaurant, this would be 4-5 stars. I had made my reservation for the wrong day, but the front desk found a room for us 'the last one' in the hotel. Unfortunately, the "last room" should be as clean and well-maintained as the best room available. (Particularly for a Starwood Hotel).
The carpet was filthy, and the room smelled. There was lotion or some kind of nasty something on the door and on the wall next to the sink that was old and dried up. There was no proper toilet paper holder - the plastic rollers were gone, so the rolls were suspended on the metal frame and fell when pulled on. The wallpaper was just dirty. If all the room ear like this, they should just rip the place apart and start over.
With my mistake in booking dates, I didn't expect a view (none given) or perfect location - but I always expect a clean room. Will not stay here'd again,

We stayed here after a long trip with flight delays, so arrived very late. Without exception, the staff were really helpful, very pleasant, and made our stay really nice. The hotel is clean, with some really nice amenities. My only negative was that an exterior door ( leading out to a shared roof /balcony) was slightly ajar when we got into the room. Given the late hour we didn't call to complain as we just wanted to sleep. I'm quite sure that given the attentive staff the hotel would have moved us if we had requested, but we did not ask. Beds were super comfortable, reliable wifi, overall a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Just check that exterior doors are secured at check in.
