We were absolutely in awe by the sight of these magnificent creatures, not only by their size, but also by their unique life style. We were very surprised how close we got to the elephant seals. I was a little concerned of the general hygiene of the area as most places with large number of animals may smell. But since the elephant seals don’t eat or drink while they are on shore, it is not a problem at all. Since the view points are behind the sand dunes, make sure wear comfortable shoes that can walk on slope of loose sand.

This is a very nice walk in a very nice state park. Lots of open fields and access to some beaches. Crossing the dunes to get to the seals is a bit of a trod but boardwalks help. Nice clean restrooms. Good for picnics and families.

It was surprising to see so many 'junior' elephant seals in November. Although this was a self-guided tour, well informed volunteers were available to answer questions. Well worth the stop and time.

Its a beautiful place lovely walks, amazing views. The best thing is the seals, you can hear them before you get to see them. It's a bit hard to walk, because of the sand, part of the walk is on a dune, but totally worth it. You should give it three hours and you are good.

We ventured to this place with our four boys and we had a great adventure. Gorgeous ocean views, lots of educational experiences and we were able to get up close to the Elephant Seals. A wonderful, wonderful state park.

We visited in November/December 2011....however this tripadvisor isn't user friendly at the moment when it comes to dates.
