Attended a business conference and stayed at the Lodge. Enjoyed the cart ride to my room. Rooms are very spacious with two queen beds, sitting room (actually sitting area but it is large), working real fireplace and huge bathroom/changing area. Will tell you that you can hear the conversations on floors above and below! Maybe an area of focus over the next couple of years.

Service is excellent across the board from the front desk to the back room. Tap Room has great bar food and a well stocked bar. Had to take the service to Spanish Bay and the shuttle was on time and I enjoyed to beautiful views

We stayed in a room overlooking 18th green - each day was breathtaking and different. The fog some mornings and clear blue skies others with the gentle sounds of waves crashing against rocks and shoreline. Wonderful, personal service, great food and FANTASTIC golf experience. A great adventure for my husband and I - we hope we are able to experience it again soon.

In our many travels over this big planet, few locations are as beautiful as the Pebble Beach area. The Lodge is nestled among this beauty. Couple this with a balcony, fireplace and a bottle of wine and you have a vacation. Couple this with friendly courteous service from the hotel staff and you have a dream vacation. Was it pricey? YES! Was it worth every penny? YES!

Downside? The restaurant service was not as prompt and lacked the attention to detail that marked the hotel service. GOLF: It was a wonderful experience marred by having the greens freshly top-dressed. You couldn't make a putt. Disapppointing, but not a reflection on the Lodge, just an observation.

Stayed at the Lodge for our 20th anniversary. Just fantastic. We've been lucky enough to stay at nice places on four continents, but this was our best hotel experience ever.

From the concierge who wrote us before our trip, to the room upgrade for our anniversary, to Bill the wonderful Scottish caddie, everything -- everything -- was perfect. (Dining tip: You can get room service from the restaurant menus. Stillwater was great.)

We stayed at The Lodge over Memorial Day weekend with our two sons, 19 & 15. Our room was large and comfortable. Our view of the course and ocean was spectacular in a "Scenic View" room. My husband and oldest son played the course and had a wonderful, challenging time; while younger son and I played tennis. Be aware--Memorial Day weekend is famous for a tennis tourney with the Olympic Club of San Francisco so court time is limited on Saturday and Sunday. Restaurants on site were okay but not especially good considering the prices. We ate in Carmel one night. There are day visitors everywhere so be prepared for a lot of people just milling around the property. Next visit we are staying at Spanish Bay, hoping for a few less people and more choices of restaurants. Overall, this is paradise and I highly recommend it.

Pros: Famous hotel on a famous golf course. Every golfer should stay and play here at least once. Service very good. Beautiful setting. Breakfast is always good at any of the restaurants. Tap Room has always been a favorite.
Cons: Rooms are VERY noisy. If you are not getting up early to tee off - you will be very annoyed.
$11 a day for internet service!- even the Holiday Inn will throw that in. - same for music channel on TV
seems very chintzy, considering the price you are paying for the room and greens fees.
Speaking of golf - be prepared for a long long round. 5-6 hours is not uncommon. I did have the pleasure on my last trip to have the first tee time of the day.Under 4 hours walking and never saw a soul- best experience I ever had at Pebble beach.
Extra: in Carmel eat at Carmel Bistro da Giovanni and Cosa Nova. Pass on Curts Chop House.

The Lodge is a very old and tired hotel. We stayed in a nice sized suite with a fireplace and the view overlooking the 18th hole was beautiful. However, the room did not have air conditioning or ventilation. The air reeked of fireplace smoke (not ours) all night long and there was no way to get fresh air except to open the patio doors, which I felt was not a option for security reasons. There were two televisions in the room, neither of which could be seen comfortably from the bed or the sofa. We ate in two of the restaurants. Club XIX was highly overrated and our entrees came out overdone, which is unacceptable at those prices. The Stillwater Bar & Grill had much better food although not much cheaper. I agree with the other reviewer about the groups. There was a wedding on the lawn below our deck, groups of people wandering around on the lawn at all hours, and the public spaces were taken up by group parties. I cannot comment on the golf course as we did not go to play, but feel that it is probably the only reason you would want to put up with this overpriced, old hotel.
