This is a great golf course that deserves it high national ranking. First five holes are near the ocean and the remainder among the cypress trees. A caddy is worthwhile investment as the greens have many unique features and contours that you will not pick up in your first or second round. Excellent conditioning. Toughest of the courses on the peninsula and because of the heavy sea air, play one set of tees shorter than what you would at home.

Unlike some of the other Pebble Beach courses, this one has less ocean holes and more forest-like holes. Overall, a very pleasant golf course, beautiful in many standards. But if you crave for links courses along the sea with wind, rough, and water, then you could go more for Pebble Beach golf course or Spanish Bay.

This challenging course is only matched by it's scenic beauty. You go out to the sea to the signature 3rd hole, which may be one of the easier holes on the course. You really need the local knowledge of caddy especially on the greens. Having a caddy allows you to take a cart, and have a choice of walking or riding. Most will find that walking would be quite a challenge, so opt for a cart, althought it is cart path only. We felt like we didn't see the beverage cart quite often enough, but we were there on a Tuesday. As with the other Pebble courses you need to protect your food and valuables from the birds. They are known to carry off anything that's not well hidden. We exceeded the recomended 4:30 minutes by about 15 minutes, but never had to wait and never held up anyone behind us.

Nestled in the Pebble Beach Resort, my husband really enjoyed his round at Spyglass but it was a bit of a letdown (scenery wise) when compared to Pebble Beach. It is a challenging course and certainly worth playing since many of the holes are never shown during the Pro-Am or US Open.

Really enjoyed the course but I liked Pebble better. Maybe because I was just in awe of the Pebble experience. I found Spyglass more difficult and may have been tired after having played and walked Pebble first. If I were to do it again, I'd play Spyglass before Pebble. In any event, you can't go wrong. The same advice applies here as i suggested for Pebble - get a caddie as it makes all of the difference. Fast greens - wind along the shoreline made it a real challenge. Play it!
