First complaint was that the tv was not working, I can live without a tv, but something special I wanted to watch...the front desk tried and tried to get it working..after a few hours they told us that it will not work..so we could move to another room, no..we had already brought our things in and I had taken a shower, we didn't want to move, we were beat after hours of travelling so we requested a reduction in room price, which they did but wouldn't wave the dog fee. Went down for dinner only to be told that the dog was not welcome and that we couldn't eat there with our dog. So off we went to find a good Italian Restaurant, near the hotel, which they accommodated us and our dog...would never stop here again. We are members of Best Westerns, but we might as well throw our cards out the window ...no satisfaction, give it a miss.

Room Tip: Don't bother!

I liked this hotel. The staff were very helpful and the facilities were just right for our needs. The room was very comfortable and the restaurant was a bonua although there are the usual array of eating places within a short walk.

I'm a very familiar BW member (Platinum) and appreciate Best Western's consistency in providing clean rooms and comfortable beds at fair prices--especially when on a roadtrip and making unexpected stops as convenient. In recent years, BW has identified some properties as "Best Western PLUS"...PLUS identifies their top quality beds and linens, a full (hot & cold) complimentary breakfast buffet and usually a higher standard of decor and landscaping....and so PLUS properties are also usually more expensive to stay.

The BW in Patterson (Villa Del Lago Inn) does have the clean rooms and comfortable beds/quality linens BUT no complimentary breakfast at all (on-site restaurant instead) and minimal effort on decor/landscape: this is more of a literal "pit stop" property: immediately off the freeway, surrounded by gas stations and chain fast food, and the pool was crowded and chaotic/noisy. By comparison, the BW Plus Orchard Inn (Turlock on the 99/roughly parallel to Patterson on the 5) has the same clean/quality bed standards plus full breakfast plus attentive landscaping and peaceful environment (with a lovely peaceful pool & spa) for about 25% less cost. As a side note, as a BW Platinum member I was given a little treat bag when I checked in, filled with the most random items (miniature Diet Coke, BBQ Lay's chips, BreatheRight strips, and a hair treatment for split ends)...a weirdly thoughtful/thoughtless gesture.

bottomline, slight high price for basic room that's clean and comfortable...better deals possible in different locations if you're making a long-distance (So Cal to No Cal) drive.

Room Tip: pool area is noisy

The staff was very friendly and accomodating. I am very picky about having a clean room as we have stayed in expensive hotels with not very clean rooms. Our room was clean and we slept great. We will definately make this our normal stop to rest on our drive from Portland to L.A. in the future.

My family and I have stayed in many of the properties between Firebaugh, Ca and Rice Hill Oregon. We stayed at the Patterson BW for the first time last night and it is the best of the bunch. The price was good, the area is great - the town of Patterson is close by for anything you may need. There isn't a free breakfast but prices for food are great (omelet with potatoes and toast for $5). All of the room entrances are indoors, there is a bar open until 10 with some good beers on tap.

The only negative for us: we arrived late (11pm). We had 3 kids and a dog and had been on the road almost 12 hours. We got some food, the kids were showering, our three year old ran across the floor once. Within 10 min we had a call from the front desk about the noise and suggesting we get the kids to bed soon. The desk handled it well, but I think they could have beem more flexible with late arrivals (make sure people aren't booked under some of the pet rooms).

I did feel much more secure at this stop than at the Firebaugh (Apricot Inn) or The Andersen Inn (Santa Nella - which had doors scarred by break-ins). The beds were better at the Andrsen.
