“great historic hotel”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

This is a lovely hotel just across from the main square in Paso Robles so you can just walk to the local restaurants. We had a garden room near the pool which although small was fine and was nicely decorated. The pool area was lovely and there is also a hot tub there. It is all set in beautiful gardens. This hotel has lots of personality and is on the historic register.

This was our second time staying at the Paso Robles Inn. The first time we just got the standard room, this time we upgraded to the one with the fireplace and Jacuzzi tub and we loved it so much. The bed was very comfortable, the grounds were lovely, and we had a romantic stay. It has the perfect location, close to downtown. Reserve early though because they fill up quickly.

We stayed at the Inn in September for a wedding at a local winery. This was our first time at the Inn. When reserving and checking in, staff were very accommodating and very pleasant. The room was not large but adequate and the bathroom was quite large, although there was a mirror only over one sink. We were on ground level and the curtain/shade in the bathroom was new but did not adequately cover the window so we had to maneuver and tuck it in to try to provide some privacy since it would be easy to see in from outside. When I got into the shower the next morning, I noticed a brown scum/mold all around the top of the bathtub and on the tiles surrounding the tub/shower. Then the water began to back up until there was 3 or 4 inches in the tub of waste water. It was pretty disgusting. When I pulled the stopper up to see what the problem was it had a bunch of stuff (????) in the drain. I do not know what was in there and not sure I want to know since I was standing in it before I was able to get out. I went to the front desk and asked for someone to come with bleach and a scrub brush and something to clean out the drain.

They did come and clean the drain and did clean some of the scum/mold around the tub with bleach but there was still stuff in the corners and on the tiles surrounding. Managers at the Inn need to make sure that staff are thoroughly cleaning the bathrooms because it is not that difficult to clean that mold/scum so that bathrooms are clean. Aside from the bathroom tub/shower the rest of the room appeared to be pretty clean.

We ate breakfasts and dinner one evening at the Inn and the food and service were great.

I want to personally apologize for the cleanliness of your bathroom during your stay. It is our goal that every guest's experience exceeds their expectations and it appears we have failed.

There is simply no good excuse for mildew in your bathroom and I’m extremely sorry that you had to experience this during your shower. Since your stay in September, we have been working diligently to better train our housekeepers and inspectors to look at every room with a detailed eye. I have discussed and reviewed expectations and processes with our Housekeeping staff. As you can imagine, our vast Historic Inn requires a lot of care and upkeep and we work diligently to maintain the grounds and rooms. I happy to share that currently our rooms are undergoing a complete renovation and we hope to have this completed by the end of the year. Part of the renovation will included new bath tubs, title in the showers and all new bathroom fixtures. We are very excited and can not wait for guest to start enjoying the upgrades.

Again, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with me, it is through your feedback we can improve.

Sincerely,

Erica Renkert General Manager

We drove up to Paso Robles after our wedding for a quick getaway and stayed at the Paso Robles Inn for the night. We enjoyed our room with the fireplace in the room and hot tub outside filled with mineral spring water. The privacy curtains were very nice, the spa robes an added touch. The Inn is conveniently located in the heart of town within walking distance of several wine tasting rooms which we enjoyed visiting. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. The staff is very courteous and helpful. We enjoyed the history of the Inn and appreciate the beautiful landscaping and the good maintenance of the hotel itself given it's age. Also love seeing garden spaces used to grow fresh veggies and herbs for the restaurants on site. Will be back again!

We really liked our room at the Paso Robles Inn. Very convenient to all the vineyards around the area. A great little bar upstairs and a nice restaurant downstairs. Within walking distance to all the great little restaurants downtown. Full breakfast in the morning in the restaurant; nice champagne brunch on Sunday. We had a hot tub room...it had a fireplace in the room. The AC worked great which was nice because it got up close to 90 during the days we were there. We enjoyed our stay very much and will stay here again next time.

Room Tip: We got a room with the hot tub on the deck. It was much bigger than the room we had last time.

The place is older but well maintained for being over 100 years old. We went for our Anniversary and wanted a romantic get-w-way. Didn't really know that natural mineral springs smell like rotten eggs. I get that it is really healthy and if something hurt I can justify that smell. But... that is just not so sexy. It's our fault for probably not doing more research but just wanted to let others know in case you are sensitive to oder. If it's a quite, relaxing place to heal your joints, I suppose I could recommend it. For a romantic excursion their wasn't much to do in town and the smell just was a bit too much for us.

I would first like to thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your recent stay. It is through guest comments and feedback we can continue to improve.

We take a lot of pride in maintaining the historic charm and character of the Inn. I’m sorry the spa experience was not what you expected. Yes, the sulpher order can be strong at times and smelt even when the spa’s are not in use. The sulfur smell is caused by sulfur dioxide gas that escapes into the air. Our natural sulfur hot spring has been drawing visitors here for many years and the benefits include lowering blood pressure, helping to relieve arthritis pain and detoxifying the body.

Again, thank you for taking to time to leave feedback. We hope to have you as our guest again real soon.

We arrived in Paso Robles at 10am for a 10:45am wine tour on Tuesday. We were pleasantly surprised to not only get checked in several hours early (I believe normal check-in is around 3pm), but we were bumped up to a Suite - with a gas fireplace and jacuzzi tub. The only draw back was the construction just outside our room, but it only affected our stay on Wednesday morning (ie woke up to jackhammers). Overall, for the price and amenities, we would most definitely stay here when we return to Paso.

Room Tip: The upstairs suite we had in the Ballroom Building was awesome! Huge room/bathroom, balcony, firepl...

Your feedback is much appreciated. I’m glad to hear we were able to accommodate you with an early check in. I apologize for the construction we had going on, but I’m glad to hear that even through the construction you were able to enjoy your stay. We do plan on having the construction finished fairly soon and we hope we will have the opportunity of hosting you on your next visit. Again, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your recent stay.
