“Consistent Good Hotel”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

This is my go-to hotel whenever I stay in Paso Robles. I have been coming here for years and stay at least three times per year. It is easily accessible from Highway 101 and there are several mid-range restaurant choices within walking distance. The service has consistently been gracious in all those years. I often see the same people at the front desk. This is a very popular hotel and can sell out at times. The rooms are clean and well appointed for a Best Western. I appreciate that there are room size choices; I've used different ones for different trips. Each room has a refrigerator, coffee pot and a bowl of candy. This hotel is not within walking distance of the "downtown square" of Paso Robles, but it is an easy drive to downtown and other locations.

We were on a group trip to Paso Robles with vintage cars. Smooth check in, clean comfortable room. One thing I liked is that they have FREE internet, a fridge and a coffee maker in the room. Parked in front of our door. They have papers in the lobby as well as info on local attractions. It has a nice pool area too.

We stayed 2 nights here during a motor tour with about 15 other travelers. When we arrived we were efficiently checked in by very friendly and helpful people at the front desk. The front of the lodge was very nicely landscaped and the lobby was small but very nice & comfortable with free coffee, newspapers, and fresh fruit. I had reserved a non-smoking, king and was very surprised to open my door to a very large room with a sofa, recliner, big flat screen TV, microwave and refrigerator. It looked brand new. Big dressing area and a bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. The room was quiet, very clean and very comfortable. This is one of the nicest places I have ever seen for the price. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: The food at the café adjoining the hotel was excellent and the hotel will give you a $5 breakfast vo...

We were between San Francisco and Vegas on a road trip. We hadn't planned a stop over venue, and came across Paso Robles. Found the Black Oak which had vacancies and went for it!

Not a bad price, thou not much to compare it to and there did seem to be a lot of other motels in the area. But I did notice our price on the day was cheaper than if we had booked via Lastminute, so worth walking in on the off chance! Bonuses included free wifi, and a meal ticket for $5 off each breakfast in the restaurant adjacent. The restaurant was good too, so worth visiting- breakfast amazing!

Black Oak has a heated outside pool, jaccuzi, free parking and wifi, the discounted breakfast, lots of freebies in the room (lots of toiletries, sweets, coffee!) daily newspaper available....

The bed was massive too! The biggest bed I have ever seen! Room was very large- contained a desk, lay-z-boy style chair, microwave, fridge, coffee machine, large tv, big bathroom, ...need I go on? Excellent amenities!

Worth a stay...? Yes definitely. If you're in the area and in need of a bed, you cannot go wrong with booking into the Black Oak. :)

Really a good hotel and a pretty decent price. The rooms were updated, modern, clean, and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The price was fairly high for a Best Western but weekends in wine tasting country are always going to be pricey.

The complimentary breakfast was very good - fresh with lots of options.

Very convenient to what we wanted to do and would stay here again.
