I am fortunate enough to require overnight business travel to Paso once every month. I've been to this Courtyard every trip since it opened, and every stay has been wonderful. The hotel offers competitive rates with La Quinta and Holiday Inn Express. The bed is very high quality and extremely comfortable. I love that the sheets smell clean -- the entire room smells like fresh laundry. The staff is courteous and friendly. The pool and spa are very nice and heated so that swimming in Jan/Feb feels great.
As other reviewers have commented, the stylish decor and fireplace in the lobby are atypical of your standard Courtyard.
In the evenings, there is a great happy hour with local wines and microbrews. The bartender is a total cutie. Make sure you follow his recommendations on wine, he knows his stuff.
I think my only suggestion for improvement is the breakfast buffet. They have rather dismal offerings, and the oatmeal is often cold with only chopped peanuts (???) for toppings. I suggest they put out some museli and plain yoghurt with homemade granola and homemade muffins.. Or at the very least, contract with Pan Olivo or another bakery for higher-quality bakery items. The coffee is pretty awful, and it's a pity, but thank god there is Java Zone drive-up coffee on 13th.
Yep, I'm really picky about breakfast.More
