Run-down old place right in the middle of the trendy tasting rooms and restaurants. The food is interesting, and good, but pretty expensive for what you get. Service is nonexistent; you pay at the front like fast-food except that it's not very fast.

Weird service: you place order and pay at cashier like "Carl's Jr.", you get your own water....Server brings wimpy salad with a thimble of dressing, utensils and main follow. I was looking forward to the $16 Angus burger. I should have sent it back. It was probably cooked the day before and reheated in a microwave. I had asked for medium rare. Dry and tasteless. I would rather have done Carl's Jr.
It's also a disservice to the wait staff. You usually tip after service, adjusting accordingly. This way, I saw none of our group add a tip at the initial order or after the meal-server loses.
I did leave a cash tip.
The only benefit would be that they have a $5 corkage-but this is my second lackluster trip. Another in our group said that things were way different when the owners were there, but when?

WOW! Enjoyed a decadent lemon white chocolate cake, with a nice coffee latte. Definitely a splurge! Staff was very friendly. Casual environment. Lunch options looked very tasty.

The Odyssey is very well situated on the edge of Paso Robles' lively and charismatic square. We ate quite late [around 8pm] and enjoyed a very relaxing evening once we had worked out the order at the counter system. The food was tasty and good value. I had a clam chowder followed by lamb burger, my wife blackened salmon and New York cheesecake - nothing fancy but very acceptable.

This cafe offers a nice variety of food and combinations. Order at counter and food is then delivered to your table. Self serve drinks.
Prices are pretty reasonable. Nice atmosphere in downtown.
