Hunter Ranch Golf Course
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Really enjoyed this facility and the layout of the course. Paid $100 prime on Saturday and $26 for replay. Morning round was tranquil and allowed enjoyment of the environment as well as the great course conditions. Were told "don't worry" about booking a time for the replay, as it will be "wide open". Guess what...not so. Slow afternoon round really detracted from the whole experience. All in all, I woiuld definitely play here again.

We've been here a couple times. The view is fantastic from the restaurant!! My husband is particularly fond of the French toast and will definitely order that again!

Great for breakfast, simple dinner, and a sellout brunch. Reserve brunch a month ahead. Great views, service, and reasonable prices.

I had made an advance reservation for two for two week days, Thursday and Friday. But when we arrived for check in Thursday we were advised that they had no record of our first day's reservation (Thursday); there was a tournament scheduled for the entire morning and could not work us in. They did, however have a record for our Friday tee time. Since this was a golf trip we had no alternative but to try and find another course in the area. Fortunately we were able to get on Avila Beach which is about a 45 minute drive from Hunter. On Friday we went back to Hunter and were able to check in. But after about five holes we were about a half hole behind. The marshal told us that we were behind and would have to pick up. Of course, since we were only a twosome, we did catch the group in front and for most of the remaining 18 had to wait for them.

I have been playing Hunter for almost 20 years and it is a good, but not exceptional, course. I take at least a couple golf trips per year but will not be returning to Hunter. Not worth the incompetence in the pro shop and the hassle on the course.

I have played Hunter Ranch several times and it is a very nice golf course. Lovely location, nice views, no houses surrounding the course, well conditioned, a nice facility with a good restaurant. But every time I play there it's the same story...a 5+ hour round of golf. We started out as a foursome with nobody on the first hole, by the third hole we were waiting to hit, and the front nine took us about 2:15 to play. OK, not so bad. In contrast, the back nine took over three hours to play. A twosome tried to sneak in front of us on the tenth tee, claiming they had stopped for lunch and should be allowed to resume play. Negative on that! Midway through the back nine the two threesomes in front of us joined up and played as a sixsome. With no marshal on the course to discourage this, they finished the round that way. We were hit into on at least three occasions while waiting, even after we cautioned the group behind us to please wait. When these events were brought to the attention of the pro shop after the round, they shrugged their shoulders and could not have been more indifferent. Listen, if you're not going to monitor pace of play, then don't put signs up on the course suggesting that you should have played in under a certain amount of time to that point. Anyway, very nice course, but very frustrating pace of play and a staff that isn't concerned about managing it at all.
