“Nice Place -- Little Overpriced”
Reviewed July 30, 2008

We stayed in the Grand Master Penthouse Suite for one night. We were with another couple so we decided on the Penthouse. The room included a full kitchen, living room, and 2 full king size bedrooms. The kitchen was nicely furnished and the tolietries were also pretty high end. The place was very nice.

My only real complaint was the price. The room was pretty pricey for Paso Robles.

Was it worth the price? Yes and No. If you are going to spend a lot of time in your room then maybe. If you need a nice place to crash after wine tasting, then maybe not.

Overall we had a good experience at the hotel.

My boyfriend and I stayed at La Bellasera in June, 2008. We travel a lot and have stayed in everything from Best Westerns to the Ritz.

We planned a road trip and La Bellasera was our first stop. I found the hotel by just searching the web. We were a little nervous when we first got there. We were not familiar with the area and were not overly impressed with Paso Robles at first sight. The hotel was right off the freeway and we weren't expecting much.

We were pleasantly surprised upon entering La Bellasera. The lobby is beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful upon checking in. We were given a map of wineries and some recommendations since we were short on time.

We stayed in a king spa room. It was very clean and well appointed. The bathroom had a huge, waterfall shower and nice toiletries. The jacuzzi tub had more than enough room for two. The plasma tv was a great touch. The bed was extremely comfortable and had a nice comforter and sheets.

We ate dinner on site at Enoteca. It was a bit pricey but the food was very good.

The area is full of wonderful wineries. The people we met were very friendly. It was nice to have free tastings. Probably a lot like how the Napa/Sonoma area used to be. I highly recommend the Tobin James winery for a unique experience.

We loved staying at La Bellasera. We wished we had more time and had booked another night. We also loved the friendly and laid back feel of Paso Robles. We will definitely be returning.

We stayed at La Bellasera for a night to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. After a long day of wine-tasting around Paso Robles (our favorites were Booker and Adelaida), we were looking forward to soaking in the pool, as the area was experiencing extremely hot temperatures. New, corporate-style hotels aren't usually our thing, but the hotel was very nice inside and the room was gorgeous: a brand-new suite with a sumptuous bed and amazing linens, two flat screens, a giant, well-appointed bathroom, mini-bar, etc.
The bellhop was very green and seemed very confused by the concepts of unloading bags and packages quickly from a car into a room. We requested ice and he forgot to bring it. The pool was small but nice; the disappointing part is that this place is built directly on the freeway, so there is no hope of ambiance anywhere but inside. It is hard to relax at the pool when cars are rushing by at 70 mph a few hundred feet away. There were a ton of kids splashing around in the water.
The concierge was great. I had called ahead for dinner reservations. She sent us to an incredible place downtown for dinner called Artisan. They feature local produce, meats, and wines, and every bite was heavenly.
This is a very nice property, and we were treated kindly and attentively by all of the staff. I only wish it could be transplanted to a more bucolic setting. Next time we'd like to try one of the vineyard lodgings or a smaller boutique hotel.

  • Liked — Beautiful, well-appointed rooms
  • Disliked — That it is situated directly on a major freeway with little landscaping

We drove past this hotel on the way north up the 101, and wrote down the name of the town and what was near it -- the hotel's signage is awful and we couldn't read the name! But on the way back south we checked it out and we're glad we did.

La Bellasera is a beautiful, beautiful place. It's expensive but worth it. We paid more for this hotel than any of the other five for this trip, and don't regret a penny of it. The place is one of the few that really looks inside just like the pictures on their web site! It's less than a year old and gorgeous.

We got a room with a "kitchenette" that was nearly the size of our kitchen at home -- full-sized fridge, stove, microwave, the works. The double balcony was comfortable, though the views in all directions include other hotels of one sort or another. They share a parking lot with another upscale hotel, which has to be hurting them.

We didn't eat in the restaurant, because the kitchen was too amazing to not take advantage of it. So we had sauteed scallops in front of a cracking (gas) fire and a plasma television. Heavenly.

My only minus is that while we were one of I think two booked rooms in the whole place, housekeeping tried to enter despite our do not disturb sign. That was a small annoyance in what was otherwise a great, luxurious find.

  • Liked — The rooms made us feel like bazillionaires!
  • Disliked — We thought the east view would be nice but it was a little depressing (looked onto the back of a tiny motel or something)

This new hotel is fantastic and the staff is unbelievable. From the moment I walked in the door for my 5 night stay to the moment I left I was treated like a "VIP" The hotel is beautifully decorated and has more lush amenties than I have ever experienced at a hotel. Great Value for the price. I highly recommend this facility.

Just returned from a three night stay at the La Bellasera and we find ourselves very confused about this hotel. Our initial impression was wonderful - beautiful lobby, courteous reception, nicely appointed room, wonderful linens on a comfortable bed...but then we ran into problems.

We went to the hotel restaurant, Enoteca, for dinner. The wine list was extensive and the menu sounded quite diverse. The service was top notch. Our starter arrived in just a few minutes and was a little under seasoned but acceptable. About half way through our salads (for which we had ordered a special wine), the waiter came over apologizing to us as our entrees had been finished much too soon. He offered to "keep them warm"...we had them served along with the second wine we had chosen. Both the veal and the filet were extremely salty and the veal was tough from over cooking. Needless to say, we did not finish either dish. We did, tough, finish our meal with a wonderful three way pear dessert.

We decided to give the restaurant a second chance at breakfast.
As we stood at the entrance of the restaurant waiting to be seated for several minutes, the young woman at the front desk called over to let us know that we could seat ourselves. About 10 minutes later our waitress brought us menus. Several minutes later our order was taken...and 40 full minutes later we were served. Now this was just for a simple breakfast and the restaurant only had five tables occupied. The breakfast was quite good though the potatoes were a bit cold. As we waited for our meal, several other couples stood in the restaurant entrance waiting to be seated...as hotel employee after hotel employee passed by them...no one offered to help them. Oh yes...the restaurant was also out of English muffins for my Eggs Benedict.

We also tried the room service. Our meal arrived quite promptly...with the order for scrambled eggs incorrectly cooked over easy...and the kitchen ran out of bacon so they "gave us an extra potato patty" instead. Too bad they did not call us and let us know as we would have changed our order.

We were extremely impressed with the front desk staff. All were quite well trained, courteous, and knowledgeable of the area. The hostess at the restaurant was charming.

The room was wonderful - very quiet and well maintained.

Yes, we would go back but would not consider eating here again.
