Owner description: In 1973, Gary Eberle began his career in the wine industry by heading his family's Estrella River Winery (currently 360 Degrees in Paso Robles) and produced 500,000 cases a year at its facility. Eberle's pioneering spirit didn't stop there. In 1980, he co-founded the Paso Robles Appellation and in 1983, Gary opened the doors to his own Eberle Winery with the premiere of Eberle's 1979 Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Eberle handcrafts 25,000 cases of wine each year from surrounding Estate vineyards. And, after more than 33 years since the release of the Eberle label, the winery consistently remains one of the highest award-winning wineries in the United States. The German name "Eberle" translates to "small boar." At Eberle Winery, a bronze boar greets every guest who visits the Tasting Room. The statue is the 93rd replica of the original bronze Porcellino cast by Tacca in 1620. And today, the original can be found in the straw market in Florence, Italy. It is considered good luck to rub the boar's nose and toss a coin in the water below. Guest enjoy complimentary wine tasting and cave tours daily. Reservations for VIP Tour & Tasting, groups of 8 or more guests or reserve tastings please contact in advance.

Eberle is a great winery and an easy stop on HWY E 46. You will enjoy the reasonable price and the excellent wines here.

We enjoyed a great tasting and then a tour of the caves where they store their wine. The tasting room was nice and big, enough to service large crowds. We took home a Steinbeck Zin which we are looking forward to cellaring and enjoying in a few years.
We got a complimentary tasting card and 20% off from our hotel information desk.

Eberle Winery isn't bad at all - it just didn't stand out as we toured a number of Paso Robles Wineries. The wines are good - just not remarkable - the atmosphere in the tasting room is average, though our taster was quite helpful. We also took the famous "cave" tour - that was less than expected. The caves are really just concrete lined storage tunnels beneath the building. We've been to some wineries that have actual caves used for storage so an artificial concrete cave was a disappointment. On the plus side the tour provided some interesting information about wine making, and you can do your tasting in the caves, for $25/person, if you wish.

We visited three wineries that day - the other two were particularly kid friendly, important to us since we have a 12 year old. Eberle didn't distinguish itself as kid friendly, but it wasn't all that unfriendly either - the two dogs on the premises really helped with that!

That we'd give Eberle a 3 1/2 isn't all bad - we enjoyed the wines enough to buy several bottles, and the experience wasn't bad - there is just a lot of good competition out there. Give it a try, just know there are lots of other good places as well.

I attended a wedding at Eberle a few days ago. The views were breathtaking! The wedding was held outside overlooking the vineyards. Dinner was held in the "caves" inside and underneath the building. Such a unique and beautiful place! One of the best locations for a wedding I've ever seen.

Our friends invited us to a birthday party at the winery. Wine and snacks on the patio then dinner in the wine cellar. We had a great time, with delicious food and attentive service.
