Owner description: We planted our first vineyard back in 1981 with the mission to make world-class Bordeaux-style blends. Since then, we've expanded both our knowledge of viniculture in this unique region as well as our acreage. Rich in fossilized limestone from eons of marine deposits, JUSTIN's soil is ideally suited to creating big, Bordeaux-style reds. At JUSTIN, we combine traditional Old World methods-like hand-harvesting and small-barrel aging in French oak-with New World technology. For example: the "Air Knife," an ingenious process invented by our winemakers, boosts grape quality and efficiency. Once the grapes are harvested, our winemakers gather to sort, select, age, taste, blend and decide what goes into every bottle.

We we a bit turned off to Justin the first time we visited a year ago, but our second visit proved more successful -- to such a degree that we came home with a case of sauvignon blanc. Justin is on every bachelorette parties' list of stops, but our pourer quickly guided us to an available table. He was knowledgeable and attentive and considered our time at Justin well spent.

Just go. It's at the end of the world, but worth the trip. Good wines, ESP their cabs and my favorite, "Justification". Best yet is their intimate restaurant (advance reservations are a must). Exceptional service, great food and wine pairings. They are refurbishing it so its closed until May, but GO when it opens!

The tasting room was one of the nicest and their cellar allows for some great picture-taking. The wines are a bit pricey and the staff lacked some knowledge - I think because they were so busy and they had many people working. Overall, it was a good experience and I'm glad I went once... just not sure if I would go there a second time.

This is a destination winery for people who take wine seriously, perhaps too seriously. Our pourer talked down to us. She was knowledgable but too formal for our crowd. The wines were first rate.

My wife and I love Bordeaux wines, which is why we prefer to taste in Paso vs Santa Barbara County area (not much Bordeaux to be found there). We also love Cab Franc, and this year they were out at tasting room so we were a little disappointed. The facility is nice. The non-member tasting room was unconstruction this year, so we tasted in the member tasting room this year (although I believe that is relocating in the near future as well). Anyway, the tasting room was a room in front of the wine cask warehouse. You could see all of the wine casks through a glass wall. The wines were good and so was the service. It is probably the furthest place from town to taste at, but the drive is not that bad. I think it only took us 15 minutes or so and we went the long way by accident.
