We walked in at about 6:00 and the large restaurant was empty except for 3 other customers. It had a rancid smell, and no it wasn't the sulpher smell from the mineral baths. We were seated at a booth by the window by a very pleasant hostess. The windows were filthy and food was stuck in the crevices of the cushions. Everybody was swatting at flies. My husband had a steak which was served piping hot. My halibut arrived at the same time, but everything on the plate was overcooked and cold. The sauce had congealed on the plate and looked like off-colored mayonaise. Fish had no taste and was terribly overcooked. Mushy asparagus. Obviously my food had been cooked first and sat (very far away from a heat lamp) while my husband's was finishing. We loved the Inn and will stay again, but we will not eat in any of the on-site restaurants, and because of their location across from the downtown area, there are many other choices.

Has a fun, airy balcony in their upstairs bar area that overlooks downtown Paso. Really great for a drink and people watching down below. The food in the dining room is good, nothing FAB! and way overpriced. I would go back for drinks, dancing and appitizers, but not for a special meal. They do make a mean Appletini upstairs tho...

Food here is alright, nothing that stands out or would make me put this on a return-to list. But what was really surprising was how they handled a reasonable customer request that any other restaurant would have taken care of without question just to make a customer happy. There were six of us there for a lunch. One ordered from the buffet which included unlimited mimosas. She did not have a mimosa or other drink with her buffet. When the bill arrived and there was a mimosa charge for $15 for two mimosa that another in party had. So, we asked the server if she could just take those mimosa charges off the bill since the buffet person didn't have a beverage. No, she could not; so we asked to speak to the manager - he was talking with another party (obviously people he knew socially, and took an inordinate amount of time coming over to us after he'd been told we wanted to speak with him - this behavior just baffles me). He also said no and "no sharing of buffet". We said that we got that, but thought it was still a reasonable request. He went into a whole explation of how expensive mimosas were which was incredibly condescending (not to mention ridiculous). He wouldn't even compromise on one mimosa. So, lesson is to have the buffet person order the mimosa and let someone else drink it. Such a silly situation - for $15 off a $160 bill --- suffice to say, that is 6 people who have spouses/partners and friends who won't be returning to this place with any of them.

We stopped in here for dinner on our way to San Diego. A lovely place to have a nice, quiet dinner. The service was professional and knowledgable, and the server accomodated several special requests to change ingredients in our dinner. I had the tri tip appetizer and the chopped salad, and my husband had the house special, the prime rib - perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places..lots of great history along with a great dinner!
