“Top tier place”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Let's face it. Paso Robles has the best restaurants in the 805. So if you want to make a name for yourself in this area you have to be here. Estrella is putting up a good fight for the top tier and we really like it. It's a great place for a wine and tapas night out or an intimate dinner with your sweetie (go upstairs). The food is eclectic Castillian with local products leading the charge, so freshness and bright tastes are the forte. Wifie and I love this place. We are locals and this is where locals go. The wait staff is friendly and chatty, so don't expect an Il Cortile experience.

“Creative Cuisine Stars at Estrella”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

Wonderful, creative cuisine, will split plates, excellent wine list and knowledgeable staff. The Tres Empanadas are delicious as well as the Jicama and Mandarin Orange Salad and Slow Cooked Beef Tacos. Great casual atmosphere.

“Inviting and Wonderful!”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

What a wonderful place! We enjoyed our first dinner there so much that we went back the next night (that's saying something when there's so much good food to enjoy in Paso Robles!)

Service from Dawn and Eduardo was friendly and professional and lively. Room is extremely warm and inviting. And the food! The chile rellenos are simply the best we've ever had! Very unusual preparations and pleasing flavors, a delight all around. I wish we could go back tonight!

“Just Passing Through”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

I was staying nearby on vacation with the whole family and took the afternoon to meet an old friend in Paso Robles. After walking along all of the businesses skirting the downtown park while "YELP'ing" to find somewhere to eat we stopped in Estrella. I had the Lamito Completo Torta and my friend had the "Cemita Poblana" Sandwich for lunch.
I didn't read any reviews on the restaurant; just saw the good rating and I wasn't expecting anything really taste-wise except a decent lunch. My Torta and Crispy Yucca Fries were awesome! I really wasn't expecting such a tasty sandwich and was really surprised. And our lunch bill was really reasonable. I live in Oregon and wish I could eat there more often and try other dishes. I definitely recommend.

“Drawn to It”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

We've passed this sweet little front a number of times while visiting local galleries and been intrigued by the decor and menu. Decided to take take visiting family for lunch over the holidays and everyone was very impressed with the selections, interesting flavorings, and portions. We could have subsided on the appetizers alone (empanadas, taquitos, and a "pork-sopa" dish) but also shared a few entrees as well. Pork tacos, a grilled cactus and chicken sandwich, and black bean soup, with tasty sides of marinated fennel salad. (... ask for a taste of the homemade "house hot sauce" - wooo!...hot and delicious). Enchiladas were large and tasty. We were all quite pleased with the meal and a pleasant after-taste of some intriguing seasonings. Not your typical mexican joint - classy and tasteful decor. Reasonably priced (not cheap) but given the portions (take home), attentive, personal service, presentation and Taste!... well worth it! We look forward to the next visit and exploring more menu items. (My mouth is watering as I write this review...)
