We were a party of 4, recommended by a winemaker from the area. We traveled about Paso Robles that day doing various wine tastings at the vineyards searching for something to bring back to our restaurant.

We were very excited to try this restaurant for two reasons.
a. It was recommended by a local
b. I find small restaurants to be the best

Pros:
They have a lot of dishes with truffles - the risotto and tortellini, both delicious.
As they are in Paso Robles, the wine selection is also wonderful
Attentive waitstaff, empty plates did not sit long, which is a plus

Cons:
We had the first reservation, so we were the only people in the restaurant, which normally I do not mind a bit. However, we had the fish tank effect, every service staff member including some of the kitchens staff, watched us (blatantly) for a solid 15 minutes.

Aside from feeling like a fish in a tank, the meal itself was very good.

Our extended family of 6 adults dined here last Saturday. We sat in the front patio. Our waiter was efficient and attentive. We tried their minestrone soup- excellent with a variety of fresh vegetables, grilled octopus as appetizer- delicious - done just right not overlooked on a bed of beans. Entrees included seafood pasta, fettuccini with truffles, filet, and pork. Everything we tried was very tasty. The seafood pasta was perfect with shrimp, clams, and fish roe or some sort of bonito flakes. All the pasta is made by hand. We also shared some dessert such as a gigantic piece of tiramisu, lemon tart, and molten chocolate cake. Some local wine from Tablas Creek completed our meal. Very satisfied. The only complaint we had - there were quite a few flies since sitting outside- that was annoying.

Great, inventive Italian menu; great customer service, both at the front desk and at the table. We go there every time we're in Paso Robles.

Friends recommended we try this restaurant when we recently traveled to Paso Robles. This is a small downtown restaurant, but parking was easy to find. The food is phenomenal; it's gourmet Italian. I had the Chilean sea bass; my wife had a pasta dish. The appetizers were wonderful. My carpaccio was terrific, maybe due to the truffle, cream sauce. A table next to us ordered osso buco and it looked like it would be tender and very tasty. This is not a cheap restaurant, but it's worth every penny paid for dinner. Oh, did I mention the extensive wine list? There are both imported wines and California wines available. This restaurant is definitely on our favorites list now.

It's a family operation, with one of the owners serving as the executive chef. In lieu of a chef's hat, he was wearing a Texas Longhorns baseball cap the night we there. He's not a UT alum; he just likes orange. The service is what you would expect from a high calibre gourmet ristorante like this. The servers are very knowledgeable and helpful and are very attentive. If you are in Paso Robles, trust me, you will love this restaurant.

My wife and I were working in the area and were fortunate to be invited to Il Cortile by colleagues. We brought a bottle of Turley Zinfandel and when the cork broke, the server kindly offered to decant the wine for us. The service and ambiance couldn't be improved and the food was spectacular. Three of us enjoyed the Milanese speciality osso buco - perfectly prepared - while I enjoyed a beautifully cooked salmon filet. Pasta generously served with truffles was the fourth meal and of course we all couldn't resist sharing. Deserts to die for. I'm looking forward to returning to this superb restaurant next summer.
