Our party of six dined at Thomas Hill a few days before New Years Eve. We called for directions and the person answering the phone had no idea where they were located. We should have known from the start that this meal was going to be a disaster.
We were seated promptly for dinner on the outside patio (it appeared that 90% of the restaurant's seating was outside). It was about 40 degrees, so outside seating wasn't the best of ideas, but not the restaurant's fault. The hostess set up space heaters, but we were generally uncomfortable most of the meal, eating with heavy jackets and scarfs. Not suprisingly, the restaurant was mostly empty outside.
Thoms Hill was kind enough to list six overpriced entree selections on the menu. One was a beet risotto, which I would not consider an entree, so really there were 5. We were then told the lamb was sold out, reducing the choices to 4. After ordering, we were told there was no more Sea Bass, so we were down to 3. Three entree selections? What was the point of opening that night?
Of the limited remaining choices, there was pork tenderloin, seafood stew and short ribs, all for over $25. We each begrudgingly selected an entree. The waitress announced that the seafood stew had clams, mussels, shrimp, barramundi (or some fish that "resembled salmon" according to the waitress). When the stew arrived it had 3 shrimp, heads still on, a few mussels and clams and zero fish. When we pointed this out to the waitress and worked to disssemble the shrimp from their heads so that they could be eaten, she was kind enough to bring a small piece of Barrmundion a side plate. How nice. The short ribs were fatty and served with a side of charred (read burnt) califlower. Nobody brought themselves to pay $25 for a few slices of pork tenderloin, so I can't report on that. In all, the meal was aweful.
We casualy expressed our displeasure at the limited entree options. The staff made zero effort to accomodate us, issued no apologies and were as cold as the Paso winter air. We were happy to pay the hefty bill and run out of the place.
I rarely leave bad reviews. This place is the exception.
