We visited Opolo a few days after the busy Zinfandel weekend festivities. As a result we had a very leisurely tasting with a very pleasant and knowledgable server. She gave us the five excellent featured wines plus some of the reserve club wines from the weekend BBQ.
All of the wines were exceptional and of very good value. This was our third visit and it remains one of our favourite wineries.

Even though we live in Sonoma wine country we have enjoyed our visits to Opolo enough that we joined their wine club. Tasting room is a fun visit and the wines suit us just right. And the location is beautiful.

The reserve Malbec was so great, I had to join the wine club.

If you want to beat the crowds...make it your first stop.

Expect crowds. They say that 'opolo' means fun and they deliver on it. Our tasting person had great skills with keeping many groups feeling cared about, advising on what you might like and sneakily pouring a few of their club wines - well, if you like them, you have to join. Tempting, but I don't live anywhere near this area. He also was knowledgeable about which wines were likely in Costco or BevMo and which were only available there. So you could make a prudent selection if you have to travel far. There is tasting in a large room as well as at outside tables. We were there late in the day, but people suggest going there around lunch time as they are making fun food and you can taste both while enjoying the open air. And like the best wineries, the tasting fee is waived if you buy.

There may be 250+ wineries in the area - too many to try - but this is one of the ones you should put on your list.

Opolo is one of my favorite zinfandel brand, it's bold, full-bodied, great bouquet and not complicated.
