I would never recommend staying here. When I checked in my room was filthy. There was food and trash on the floor. My friends and I went to the Terrace for breakfast and waited 30 minutes for service before leaving. The pool service was terrible. Staying here was a total waste of money. From the looks of other reviews afternoon tea is the highlight of this hotel.

Stayed at the Langham for four nights. The hotel is grand and the service was first class on almost all occasions. The hotel is a little dated but this really did not bother us at the good rate we got by advance booking. The only disadvantage with the hotel is the distance to Old Town Pasadena which is a taxi ride although the hotel shuttle (free) was excellent. The area surrounding the hotel is magnificent with multi million dollar homes. Great restaurants in Old Town and the Norton Simon and Huntington Museum are first class and should not be missed - especially the Huntington. Overall a great stay in a lovely old world hotel.

the hotel looks a little bit wannabe european
internet is really expensive! (5 dollars per hour, 50 dollars per week)
when we had sexytime someone knocked at the door and made comments like: have a good night!
there was no kakibrush!

all in all we would recommend the hotel to couples and we are looking forward to come back!

Yeah - its ok. Bedrooms are fine, public areas are spacious and the hotel is located in a quiet residential area a short drive from Old Pasadena. Main restaurant was closed for refurbishment during our stay and this was fine as we knew about the closure at the time of booking. Front desk staff were generally friendly (except when you ask for the 'inclusive' package service charges to be taken off the bill) and bell porter was really chatty.

The main problem with the hotel is the breakfast room and breakfast service. I can forgive a hotel for being a bit run down as long as the service is good. Sadly this hotel needs to be improve the decor and service. Ask for overhard eggs and get runny eggs.....ask for toasted English muffin and get an English muffin that was put near a toaster! Mission impossible to find someone to ask for help in bringing you the dish that you ordered. At one point another diner chased the server across the breakfast room to get his attention. Poor sloppy service with no one giving direction to the servers.

I was expecting the pool area to be in front of the hotel, however the pool is next to the breakfast room with an accommodation block overlooking the pool. Liked the coffeee station and morning papers at the entrance to the lobby but everything else was not very memorable. The hotel seems to play on the reputation of its former glory as a Ritz-Carlton. Sorry, I was not really impressed with 'The Langham' so I would not recommend.

we had very high expectations of this hotel given the beautiful pictures on the website and also the fact that it's a Langham.

The hotel is in the middle of a very upmarket residental district and is very grand. When you arrive you are pounced on by valet staff, porters who are all very attentive and keen to help. Reception smells gorgeous with lots of roses and orchids in vases. The checkin staff were very helpful and our room was ready for us.

The room was a little bit of a disappointment as it smelt of damp, we didn't complain so only have ourselves to blame. On arrival we were asked if we wanted a reservation at the terrace restaurant and we deferred. Later in the evening we went down to get something to eat to find a half full restaurant and a snooty lady who told us that the kitchens were at capacity and that they couldn't seat us. We were advised to go to the bar which had the oddest menu you have ever seen. We ended up eating using room service. The restaurant being full is one thing but this wasn't full they just couldn't cope with a function and a restaurant on a saturday night.

The swimming pool is longer than average but about the same width as a normal pool. We only went out to the pool once and found that they didn't have any loungers free. Lots of people ended up lying on towels on the grass which wasn't quite what we expected to do.

My last bug bear is that the hotel had building work going on while we were staying. This wasn't mentioned when we reserved and whilst the noise wasn't too bad while we were there it made the public areas unbelievably cold as the weather turned and the building work allowed all the cold air in.

For all the negatives though the decor of the room was lovely, it was impeccably clean, the service was outstanding and they had lots of little touches that made our stay memorable such as bottles of water when we picked up the car from the valet staff; little note each evening telling us the weather the following day; scales in the bathroom; sewing kit, razor kit etc as standard in the room and a plate of chocolate coated strawberries as a congratulations on our honeymoon - so would we stay there again - absolutely.
