“Historic and Impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2014

My parents were in town to visit for one night and I booked them a room at the Langham Huntington. My wife and I had stayed here on our wedding night when it was a Ritz Carlton seven years ago and I knew that the style of the hotel was perfect for them. I booked directly through the hotel and got them the Summer Escape package which included continental breakfasts in The Terrace restaurant and valet parking.

They were given room 101 which was a floor below the 2nd floor lobby. At first I was a little concerned but when I saw their room and how happy they were with it, I knew that they had been given a great room. It was at the end of the hall which was a little bit of a walk, but meant they had an end room with windows on three walls and two double doorways that walked out to a sitting area, lounge chairs, and the main lawn on the south side of the hotel. They were in town from Arizona and were so happy with how green the landscaping was the moment they walked out the door.

They spent a lot of time outside on the property and loved the landscaping at the Japanese garden as well. When I was there we walked on the Picture Bridge but I was disappointed to see that the paintings had been taken down. Possibly for maintenance? Hopefully they'll be back up soon and my parents will get a chance to see them the next time they are in town.

They loved the large room with the king bed and spacious desk along with the large marble bathroom. The package included breakfast which they said was wonderful. When they called before checking out they told me that they didn't want to leave, which was great to hear.

The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and polite and added to the charm of the hotel. Do not hesitate to book the Langham Huntington.

Enjoyed a five day stay here in 2013, purely for pleasure and relaxation.
Pasadena is a classy town and this hotel suits it perfectly. Excellent service, beautiful common spaces, and a truly enjoyable onsite bar/restaurant. My only reason for 4-stars instead of 5 is that some of the rooms seem to be a bit worn and in need of refurbishment. The first room I was shown had a (slightly) stained carpet and was missing all of the curtain sheers on the windows (and as it was in direct sightline of the parking area, you needed sheers for privacy). They quickly changed my room to another on the same floor and it was absolutely lovely. Will definitely return on my next trip to Pasadena.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool/lagoon area are still surpisingly quiet and peaceful.

Have returned from a five day stay and would definitely recommend staying there.
Great staff and service -in all parts of the hotel - from the bar, restaurants, room service and the housekeeping staff - all well trained and customer focused.
Room was well laid out for a personal or business stay and the bathroom was well stocked with the required items.
I look forward to returning to stay again - Thanks

This is a truly fantastic property to stay with. The service was excellent. The room was well appointed and quiet, I was only here for a brief stop over but would not hesitate in returning to this hotel.

Room Tip: Try a club room they make all the difference with loads of extras.

Par excellence. What a fantastic place to stay. We were there for a conference. Perfect venue as it accommodated our large group. Very relaxing. Very swish! Not too far from Pasadena town by shuttle. Loved the pool. And the tennis court. And the Resort Spa. And, THE HIGH TEA - gorgeous!! and, and....go and see for yourself!

Room Tip: we had a ground floor room with a paved courtyard and chairs outside. perfect to sit and have a win...

We spent 4 days at this wonderful, elegant hotel in a room adjoining our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters, ages 9 and 6, room. We all loved everything about our stay there. The grounds were immaculate with lovely gardens that you can wander through. The children and the adults loved the pool. You can order food or drinks while sitting around the pool and it will be brought out to you. The staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful. Our room attendant not only gave us clean towels and made the bed, she carefully folded our clothing, picked up the children's toys, tidied up the bathroom arranging things like eye glasses, combs, and make up on a towel at the side of the sink. I have never experienced service like that at any hotel and have to say that it made returning to our room so pleasant. There is a small patio area right off the main lobby that has a pond in the center complete with a family of ducks. The mother duck and her little ducklings were the center of attention for our granddaughters and even the adults. The food was excellent. Lots of choices and all delicious. The maple syrup was real maple syrup and the orange juice was fresh squeezed, which is the gold standard for me. We never had to wait for a table. Breakfast wasn't just a meal, it was an event that got each day off to a wonderful start. The hotel is at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains in a residential neighborhood so the area was quiet and the rooms themselves were quiet. No city noise or thin walls between rooms where you can hear what tv program the people in the next room have on. The beds were soooo comfortable. Returning to the hotel was like returning to a luxurious, peaceful, private retreat. I must admit that I am a bit spoiled now I know what a truly grand hotel feels like. I will compare other hotels to this one and I know they won't measure up.

A reasonable wait for a table, even with a reservation, although the hostess really tried her best.
The food was mediocre at best - French toast was made with plain, not particularly tasty bread.
The buffet was not particularly exciting; we've seen better choices at other places. We expected a little more, given the price and the reputation.
