Hosting potential recruits to Pasadena at the Langham may be the smartest thing a business can do. The entire facility hearkens back to an earlier, more glamorous era that it works to retain throughout its well kept spaces. I've been there twice, and each time there were significant events taking place - once a major motion picture was being filmed. Regardless, the service was superb, with staff paying extraordinary attention to the needs of all guests. The restaurants on site are well run, and the kitchen produces well conceived menus - and superb breakfasts.
Fortunately, we're moving to Pasadena, so we'll be able to enjoy receptions on the lovely veranda overlooking the immaculate lawns more regularly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the gardens.

Found ourselves at the Langham hotel on Saturday night for a Fundraising Gala. We had a little time before and after and wandered over the Tap Room.

I'll be honest - the name does not match the experience. One would think that this was a brew pub or something similar.
In reality, it's a very elegant and hip lounge and bar. BEAUFTIFULLY appointed and super spacious. GREAT for big groups, or a couple seeking a little privacy.
Lots of conversation areas, a fire place, heated outdoor seating.

The night we were there, a FABULOUS Jazz ensemble - and some spontaneous dancing mighta happened. ... lol

GREAT drinks. GREAT service. LOVELY LOVELY ambiance. I'm SO going back ASAP!

In 20 acres of lovely Pasadena, this hotel lives up to its reputation. The comfort level is very high and the staff are extremely helpful at all times. The decor is traditional and restful; nothing jars, everything is pastel and soft. Rooms are huge and the beds comfortable. But the star is The Royce, the gourmet restaurant where I had one of the best meals in my life (the tasting menu) served with panache and accompanied by brilliant wines. The sommelier came with every wine and his comments enhanced the pleasure of the meal. A trivial comment, but why do they charge for internet access for each computer rather than by room? My advice: scrap the charge altogether and then there will be nothing at all to complain about.

This hotel is gorgeous...no doubt. It's massive, you can't help but take it all in from the minute you pull into the valet. Expensive cars out front, great valet service. Then you walk in and this place has class written all over it. Crystal Chandeliers, antique looking furniture. There were a few halls I walked down that looked like nobody had been there for awhile...and the grounds are gorgeous...lush! This hotel is out there. It's in the middle of an upscale Pasadena neighborhood. If your looking for quiet accommodations and don't plan on walking to anything, you will like it here. The restaurant is very good....but very pricey ($40 for breakfast). But the price you pay for a 5 star hotel in LA is cheap. Valet is an added expense too...as with anywhere in LA. I really enjoyed my stay here for one night...but was ready to move on in the morning!

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the Courtyard.

I have been staying at the Langham Hotel for approximately 1.5 years and my last visit was the last. I always stay on the club level as I enjoy the club, appetizers, and away from the crowd. Apparently, there was a change of management about a nine months ago and the service and professionalism has drastically taken a turn for the worse. When I went to the front desk manager for an issue with my room and the way I was treated by in-house 1860 employee, I was treated extremely rude and basically they did not care. Then I received a VERY UNPROFESSIONAL phone call from the 1860 employee that was left on my vm. The people I was traveling with were shocked that an employee would leave a guest such a message. Again, I brought it to the attention of management and was fastly put in my place.

They miss the mark on being a 5 star hotel and I would recommend a stay at the Westin or another property in Pasadena where they value their opinion.

Also the cottage suites smell and have huge stains in the carpet and they charge $650+ a night for those. I would not let my dog stay in one of those suites.

Room Tip: They are having financial problems and cutting corners where it is noticeable. They really need new...
