As always the staff is well trained and friendly. Front desk agent was friendly and gave us a fantastic room, top floor with a beautiful view, peaceful and relaxing. One of their staff stood out to us, Norman Rodriguez, not only did he remembered our name, but made us feel right at home. We are coming back and for sure we will be looking for Norman. We had dinner on our first night, excellent service and the food was very good, breakfast the next two days. We strongly recommend this location because its walking distance to down town. The WIFI was free and very fast, unlike some other places we have stayed.

Room Tip: 1205 is a great room!!!!

I only spent a night here but it was a very satisfying experience. I forgot to book a hotel for our last day in LA and since we were going to the Botanical Garden in Pasadena I was looking for hotels in this area. My Expedia app had a mobile special on this hotel so I booked it right away. Good location near highway, easy to find. Looks small from the outside but that is deceiving. Very nice entrance area with fountain and vallet parking ($14). Huge and beautiful foyer. Reception desk is hidden on the right side - little weird. Friendly staff everywhere from vallet to housekeeping. Nice, clean room - we got a shared balcony access over the main entrance with view of the fountain. Most comfortable bed ever. Maybe because I slept with the bolster pillow? Free WIFI. Westin also have a program now where you can rent workout clothes if you are traveling light ($5) - pretty cool. Definitely would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Just ask for it

We stay in LA frequently, visiting our daughter. Last weekend we booked through Expedia to stay at the Westin, thinking we'd treat ourselves to a really nice hotel. Our rate was $169/night instead of the $225-269 we found for the Westin on its own and other websites. We requested two beds as we were bringing our six foot two, 15 year old son. I called the hotel in the morning to confirm we'd get a room with two beds. The person at the desk told me it wouldn't be a problem.

1) then we get there to check in and they wouldn't give us a room with two beds. "We cannot promise any room types booked thru expedia." They wanted my son to sleep in a roll-away. And of course, the room is pre-paid. I kind of had a fit, manager gets involved, and they "find" us a room with two beds. Wow.

2) the room is very small -- whatever. Cannot access the closet because the bed is so close to it. Whatever. We have to go downstairs to get more towels, robes, etc.

3) the floor says "Starwood Preferred Guest floor" and we are Starwood members. But the room has no mini-bar. There is mold in the bathroom. The bathroom door, a pocket door, is completely scratched all the way across. There are holes in the carpeting. There are no black out curtains, only wood shutters which let light in. The bathroom has a tiny sink, with no place to put anything. There's only one hook. We had to resort to laying our clothes across the toilet to shower. (we were traveling with a teen, remember, who doesn't want to watch us dress.) No fan, or not one that worked.

Only pro?: the lobby and dining area of the hotel is nice. (And the staff was consistently nice.) We didn't try out the pool or gym -- so can't comment on that. We were there to visit our kid.

But they charge for wifi in the room (and there is none in the lobby!), they charge for parking. The rooms are small - or ours was. They said there were no rooms, but that was a lie. Totally unimpressed with spending so much more for this hotel. It's not particularly close to old town Pasadena. 3-4 block walk. (Big blocks.) Next time, we will stay in the Glendale Hilton again, or believe it or not, the Comfort Inn on Colorado: for people who just want to sleep on great beds, in a large enough room for three (or four), spending the extra cash for the Westin is so totally not worth it. There's a lot of hotels to choose from in the area. I wouldn't choose this one, for the money. Unless you want to spend a lot of time in the hotel -- and get yourself a larger room.

Our stay at the Westin began with a very friendly check-in. The front desk staff was wonderful! We were given a room on the 8th floor … the Preferred Guest Floor…. at least I think that’s what they called it. I’m not sure what made it special, other than the plaque near the elevators that told you it was the Preferred Guest Floor. The room was just as expected from the pictures on their website. It was nice but nothing fancy. We made use of the bench seat across the window wall. The bed was VERY comfortable.

The only issue we had was trying to get 4 towels each day. They only put 3 in the bathroom. We were there 5 nights and had to call and make the request every day. We even tried leaving a note on the bathroom door, requesting the extra towel. It was moved to the desk but we didn’t receive the towel until we called, when we returned that evening. The shower curtain was too small and short. It looked like it had shrunk during the many washings. It was tattered and old…but it was clean. Just changing that one item would make the bathroom look so much better.

We tried to use the business center to print something. It’s located in the little store. But the store was closed that morning. Later when it opened, we asked the woman attending the store and she explained the cost to us. There was a minimum fee to use the computers. It was so outrageous that I don’t remember the exact cost, but it was like $10 for 5 minutes. We decided not to print anything there. Valet service always had our car ready when we needed it. The courtyard was lovely. All in all, it was a very nice stay.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, you may not want a room that faces the hotel entry/valet area. During...

Stayed at the Westin on a business trip, and was very happy. The rooms are very nice. The location is fantastic. It was an easy walk to shopping and dinning in Old Pasadena. Also the gym was fantastic. I went a few different times and it was never crowded. Also, it is quite an impressive gym for a hotel. In addition they have a very nice pool with a great view of the mountain. The outside bar/ lounge is a nice place to sit and have a relaxing drink.

We stayed here for the breeders cup. Friendly helpful staff. Good sized room. No free wi-fi which is poor and re-stocking of coffee and toilettries haphazard. Good gym and pool use of which is all included. This is a good base to be near old Pasadena
