The food is very good but basic. The ambiance is fun the first couple of times with the Teppan chefs entertainment, but after a while you just want your food without the "theatrics". The place is starting to show its age and needs an update especially since its not cheap. Overall, still worth going to.

Went for lunch & was happy with the specials. The guys behind the sushi counter were very helpful & fun. The wait staff were pleasantly attentive. The food was great!

Most people go to Shogun for the teppan meals, where they cook the food on the hot steel in front of your group. There's the normal show and good food. The lunch deals are especially good, but it's a good value in general.
But the less noticed half of the restaurant is the sushi side, which is an outstanding value. Their Alaskan roll is fresh, tasty and generous. All of the house rolls are excellent and there is a range of 12 or 15. The lunch deal on that side is miso soup, an entree of choice (like tempura or teriyaki) and a sushi roll, usually 8 pieces. For the last month or so, that has been ~$11. Add a Kirin and you have an outstanding meal for under $20 with tip.
We sometimes go as a couple, but also as a group of friends. They can seat 6 easily and usually arrange for larger groups on the spot.
I like the greeting and the drum and the sushi bar and the staff and... (this is sacreligious) the tempura green tea ice cream mochi roll for desert. It easily feeds four. All in all, we're generally quite pleased.

Food is good. Not great but will not disappoint most. Service was excellent and what more can I say about that? "Chefs" were a but too noisy with their tricks but I will go back (and have)

Always a FUN place. but the food is served in "batches" and not a great eating place. it's a "show" with some okay eats. But I like to go; so what does that say? I guess I like to be entertained while I eat.
