Description: Panda Inn is the source and original inspiration behind the nationally recognized Panda Express restaurants. Andrew Cherng and his father, Master Chef Ming Tsai Cherng, opened the first Panda Inn in Pasadena, California in 1973. Their goal was to share the culinary arts of Mandarin and Szechuan cuisines with their local community by emphasizing the Chinese art of balancing tastes and textures to provide a dining experience that delights the senses. Today, still family-owned with five locations in Southern California, Panda Inn honors over 40 years of heritage and takes great pride in serving delectable cuisine with attentive service in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

“Great Sunday Brunch”
Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

This restaurant was clean and family friendly. We loved the Sunday brunch. There was a large assortment of delicious dishes to try, sushi, soups and desserts. Mimosas and mai-tai's were also included. Topped off with white chocolate dipped fortune cookies, we would definitely eat here again.

“A Decent Place to Dine”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

Overall, my family felt right to dine in this restaurant just outside the Universal Studio. We're glad to find that it has nothing to do with Panda Express, and its menu is very rich. The three dishes that we ordered are much closer to Chinese food than the items offered at P.F. Chang. The price is about right. I'm also glad to see mostly positive reviews on this website in comparison to the ones on Yelp.

We eat here every time we are in pasadena. Tonight they had the 40 year anniversary menu. no wonder they have been around 40 years. consistently high quality, good value, plenty of parking, a great Pasadena staple.

“Used to be the best - living on laurels”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

The original in Chinatown as worth the drive from any point in Los Angeles county. Now it's Chinese corporate food. While I admire the rise to success as a brand, the food is average. The oils to fry egg rolls tastes used, the noodle dishes are more like soupy canned oyster sauce found in Asian markets in Alhambra.
