Had dinner here with the husband. Charming, intimate small plate fare. Authentically Spanish. The couple at the next table had just returned from Spain, her home country, and raved about the food here. Tables are close enough together tha you really can start a conversation with the folks at the nex table. Very European.
If it's a nice evening opt for a seat on the small patio. Very romantic.

We had read a review about Racion, Pasadena's newest "tapas" restaurant and must say that from the service to the array of tastes, portion sizes and innovative food stylings, Racion did not disappoint. Less tapas bar and more refined restaurant, Racion serves up what the executive chef's interprets as the Spanish staple. Since she admitted to us that she had never lived in Spain, it made sense that her cuisine is tapas-inspired fare rather than the real -deal. Dishes like stuffed calamari, Niman rib-eye, cochinillo(pork) and smoked duck are divine. We enjoyed her chicken croquets so much we doubled the order. Even if you don't like salt cod (which I don't) I recommend trying the salt-cod croquets as they are like soft bursts of the sea on your tongue. Delish! Our waiter was terrifically helpful and forthcoming with recommendations, particularly when choosing wine. All said, if you're in the mood for "classical" Spanish tortillas and chorizo, this is not the place for you. But if you are in the mood for unbelievably delectable dishes, try Racion.
