“Simply outstanding! Elegant french cuisine, but not mini french portions!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

Beautiful french restaurant with amazing food, and the occasional Edith Pilaf playing in the background! Makes me want to jump on a plane for Paris. Say what you will about the French, but they know how to eat! A beautifully cooked steak in a truffle sauce was divine to say the least, but the gran marnier souffle was so incredible! Not like I can afford to go to a place like this all that often, but if you love good food, it's worth every penny!

“Wonderful Brunch at Cheval Bistro!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

A friend and I celebrated her birthday here at Cheval Bistro. We were greeted by a friendly crew of people and shown to our table that had a happy birthday handwritten card addressed to my friend. What drew me in initially was their high rating on several food blogs, and we weren't let down. Their food was delicious and prepared elegantly. I was put off by the old world elegance of the place, but it only added to the dining experience. If you are lucky to have Paul serve you, you can guarantee a great time!

“Wonderful family dinner at Cheval”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

We have had great meals at other Smith Bros. restaurants in Pasadena but this was our first time at Cheval Bistro. It certainly won't be our last. Family group of five adults and one six-year-old. They seated us in a booth in a small alcove facing the main dining room. Dispute the crowd, the booth area was amazingly quiet and allowed us to talk and hear each other normally, often difficult in a popular restaurant on a busy Friday night. The food was so very good - special arctic char was perfectly cooked, sweet and juicy with a delicious crispy skin, steak au poivre and filet exactly as requested and delicious, and desserts were excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. They do not have a children's menu, but our server made a number of suggestions and the kitchen kindly made a few changes to make sure our granddaughter was pleased with her dinner. Look forward to returning.

“French dining in old town Pasadena”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed our dinner very much. I had the mussels, sold as an hors d'oeuvre, but ample for an entree. My husband had the special pork chop dinner which he enjoyed. Entrees are pricey, but the food and service are excellent. There is a public parking garage next door, but on a Saturday night, it was full, so we used the valet parking, very comvenient. The Smith Brothers do an outstanding and creative job at their several restaurants. We ate in the "champagne room", quiet and nice. We will definitely return.
