“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

My first stay and impressed with the service, cleanliness, reasonable price, perfect location , amenities, free wifi and parking.I highly recommend this hotel for everyone. This place is two blocks away from Colorado Avenue where you can shop, dine and lounge out.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the west are sunnier

Every member of the staff I encountered during my two night stay were friendly and helpful--the friendliest and helpfulest I have experienced. They made adequate accommodations an especially pleasant experience.
The location is excellent for walking around the streets of Old Pasadena (to the south), which is a nice area for shops and restaurants. The location also is convenient for highway access.
The rooms are good enough for a Courtyard, although mine on the south side exterior of the building suffered from the heat and an air conditioner that either functioned in "on" or "off" mode and was too loud to run during a phone call. My first offer on the 2d floor on the west side suffered from traffic noise because the windows are single pane. I suggest requesting a room on the north side or on the interior. Otherwise, the building was clean, the workout facilities good enough (2 steps machines, 2 treadmills, 2 bikes, free weights). More of a family or business place than a pleasure trip.
They also offer "free" breakfast (an omellette bar and egg and sausage steam trays), but the drinks (coffee and juice) were extra. Not much of a benefit. But it is a nice place even without that perq.

Room Tip: Interior and/or North side (in warm weather). 5th or 6th floor if sensitive to street noise, because...

Mike,

Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your thoughts. We truly appreciate it. While our location is excellent, it pales in comparison to our staff who give it their all from the moment you arrive.
Certainly apologize for the confusion on breakfast as we do charge. Our Bistro Restaurant is designed to keep it as simple or as full as you like it. Our omelet bar is currently $10.95 and beverages are extra as we have a very large selection of coffee and specialty drinks. We also have a wide variety of a-la-carte pastries, breakfast sandwiches’ as well traditional breakfast plates. A little something for everyone.
Again, we genuinely appreciate the feedback and very much look forward to your next stay if we are so fortunate.

The hotel is very nice and clean and in a great location for Old Town Pasadena. Walking distance to everything! Breakfast place right up the street with great food, in case you want to skip the hotels buffet. Loved it.

Room Tip: Parking in the garage is convenient to each floor. That helps with luggage!

Located several blocks from the restaurants and stores of Old Pasadena is the attraction of this reasonably priced hotel. Nothing fancy but clean, comfortable, with more amenities in the room than at the nearby Westin. Nice to have a refrigerator. Love the free wifi--not fast enough for streaming but fine for email and reading New York Times. Unless you are staying further away at the likes of a Howard Johnson's or Quality Inn, all the hotels charge for parking. Bed was comfortable. Our room on 4th floor faced Fair Oaks so did get the street noise starting around 7 am. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant with so many great choices 5 minutes away.

A combined work and personal trip during Breeders Cup weekend at Santa Anita. Room was fine, but time for some upgrades. Bistro leaves something to be desired and nothing at lunchtime. It appears that dinner is room service only. Luckily many restaurants are very nearby, pick up a brochure at lobby with a map of Old Pasadena. If you want a wonderful nearby museum/library/garden-arboretum, the Huntington is a must-see. I could spend hours there.

Room Tip: We were on 5th floor, no noise problems. Slow elevator!

at 1:50 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, I went downstairs to get some lunch and coffee, but their "bistro" in the lobby was closed! They shut it down, I was told, because they were not busy. It won't open again until 5 p.m.

In other words, despite the hefty price you pay to stay here every night, the place is too cheap to keep its "bistro" open so the people staying here can get lunch on a Sunday afternoon.

Also, although they serve drinks (but not until the evening), there is no bar.

And the parking costs an arm and a leg each day.

Try the Doubletree a few miles away in Arcadia. Free parking, for one thing.

We stayed here in October of this year (2012) while in town visiting family. We were met by three or four hungry valets who were eager to take the car. They seemed less than thrilled we were parking our own car. We were greeted in the modern lobby by a desk clerk who was professional, yet not friendly. Our room was on the fifth floor, in the back with a great view overlooking a dumpster. There were old carpet rolls in the dumpster, so maybe they are renovating? Our walk from the garage to the room was down three long dark halls. Our room was very small. It was a King bed with a love seat and desk. The AC was outdated and loud. The bathroom wallpaper was peeling and the fixtures were cheap. Looked like a $50 motel in the bathroom. The walls were so thin, you could hear the family next door. We were treated to a family with a couple of kids who checked in about midnight on Friday night. The dad was yelling at the kids and it was stressful as you could hear everything that was said, or yelled at the kids. The internet was terrible. I had brought school work with me for an online class. I was not given instructions for connecting to the internet. Didn't think I needed it, however you had to go to a certain website and sign up for a three day trial? (I don't know? ) to get the WiFi???? The place is way over priced for what you get. I will be coming back to Pasadena, but not staying here. The only good thing I have to say about this place is, it is within walking distance to Old Town Pasadena. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes though. It is about four to six good city blocks.

Room Tip: If you are parking your own car, get a room close to the garage. Ask for a room that doesn't ove...
