Moldy Oldy

Review of Comfort Inn
2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 28, 2019
This hotel is in desperate need of a refresh/update. However, besides the dirty carpet, furniture, and torn wallpaper. Let me just say that the shower was horrible. Where's the water pressure? A hot shower with good water pressure is a necessity for me. Water was hot, the pressure was pitiful. Oh, and then there was the mold on the wall. I will probably not be back. Ceilings were thin and could hear the person above walking around.

I only gave this place one star because I had to. 252.00 USD got us a room that not only was over priced, I’ve stayed at better 6’s and 8’s, had peeling paint, a toilet seat that slid right off the porcelain, a refrigerator that would melt ice cubes rapidly and peeling patches on the wallpaper. If I had paid less than $100.00 I would have spent too much. Stay away!

I know that Palo Alto is very expensive. I Google is around the corner and when they organise things the demand for hotelrooms is very high and therefore also the room prices.
But still the room rates for this hotel are to high or the other way around you do not get what you would expect.
To start with the positive things:
The bed is very good,
The shower is oké
The location is oké
The hotel is quiet.
The negative things:
Wallpaper comes from the wall
The furniture is damaged
My TV and remote were not the best friends
Electrical connectors fall from the wall when disconnecting plugs.
The fridge was making a awful lot of noice
Breakfast is not oké
... Etc.

I'm not usually one to write a ton of reviews but I wish I would have known about how dirty this hotel is before we stayed. Pros: price and location. Cons: MOLD. Mold throughout the bathroom, on the walls and stuck in the grout of the floor tile. Mold under the peeling wallpaper in the living area. This is a health hazard and anyone staying here should know that you are putting your health at risk. I mentioned the mold upon checkout and was told, "I'm sorry for your inconvenience, we are remodeling soon". Upon reading other reviews from at least a year ago, this seems to be the mantra they tell everyone. While I don't expect dirty accommodations I can handle a little dirt but the amount of mold in this room is unacceptable.

Room tip: Choose another hotel or ask if there are any rooms sans mold...

Stayed here for one night this week. Palo Alto during the business week is very expensive and this is one of the few hotels that did not exceed my company’s expense cap for a hotel in the area. But for nearly $300 a night, this hotel is a big disappointment. The room was clean but very dated. It smelled like a musty hotel. The bed was too bouncy and there was a refrigerator in the room that made so much noise, it kept me up most of the night. The worst issue was there terrible cell service while at the property. You basically have to connect to their wi-fi to use the internet on your phone and the cell service was so bad, I continued to get disconnected repeatedly while in the room. This made it very difficult to work from the room. Not sure the cell service issue has anything to do with the hotel or whether they can do anything about it, but it is something to consider if traveling on business.

I was in Palo Alto for a class and stayed at this motel for two nights. The room was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the desk staff were very nice and helpful. It was also good value for the money I paid, very reasonable.
