“An underwhelming experience”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

At the end of the day, it's a brand name hotel, so you can expect decent quality. The rooms were pretty depressing though, and the walls were very thin. So expect to hear a lot of noise when you're sleeping. The decor of the rooms felt like I was in the 80s, and there is no free Wifi. The only advantage of staying here is the location, as it's pretty close to downtown palo alto. If you're looking to stay there for more than one night, I wouldn't recommend it.

Nice , clean, relaxing environment with various seating/relaxing set-ups around the grounds. Good food onsite--wonderful place to hold an event. Staff also appeared to be competent and friendly. Would love to have a longer stay.

It's a Sheraton--clean, comfy beds. It has a few pleasant areas...tables by the pool, loud bar. But my experience with just getting the reservation took hours out of my life. I should have billed them. I had 6 separate contacts, on 6 separate days (mental note: reservation not finished. Have to call back....) before they honored the rate they gave me in an emal. Three times: Central reservations (nobody knows or can do anything.) 1 time: Property itself (We'll call back.....) 1 time: Front desk. Apology. Bill adjusted.

Room Tip: Being promised a garden room doesn't mean you'll get a garden room.

Stayed here two nights on business. Have to pay for parking but it's Palo Alto so not surprised. The room was fine, but pool noise rather loud at times (recommend asking for a room away from the pool). The grounds are nice and I enjoyed the short walk to the lobby. A big plus for this hotel is that it is a very short walk to the Caltrain station in Palo Alto, meaning that public transit is possible. Internet was a bit flaky - worked fine some of the time but at peak times bogged down a bit. All in all, perfectly adequate, but hardly memorable!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the pool if you want to sleep early

Thank you to Uriel and the morning front desk staff who were able to check us in early and provide local information. We traveled, unexpectedly, for a medical appointment and made a last minute reservation. Everybody at the hotel was friendly and the location is superb. Given the peeling wallpaper I saw, the hotel could use some sprucing up. Also, there is no Club Lounge evening service on weekends.

The hotel was fantastic and the service was so very special. The staff was there for any needs and eager to help in any way they could and always with smiles on their faces. The restaurant had service poolside so it was relaxing to just sit and have a snack or a drink. Internet service was available in your room for a fee or free in the lobby. The hotel was within walking distance to shops and other restaurants.

Room Tip: The garden view rooms would be nice that overlook the pond and fish or perhaps a sliding door to the...

Stayed at this hotel several times over the past several months. It was somewhat pricey ($200+), but never really delivered. Rooms are a little run down and could use renovation. Parking isn't cheap. Rooms are very basic. You could tell the shower was old...

If you can afford it, spend another $50 and stay in the Westin next door. It's a whole different ballgame...
