Your sliding door opens up to a Japanise Garden. The room is custom and unlike any other in Palo Alto. Right on the strip and accessible to all companies.

I've attended a couple of special events in the restaurants, but never stayed in the hotel itself until now. I was impressed! For the going rate of hotels these days, Dinah's offers many of the nice touches found in higher end, upscale properties. To name a few: telephone, Terra Green toiletries, and a night light in the bathroom; complimentary fruit and mints; a wide full length mirror; complimentary wired and wireless Internet service; 40 inch flat screen television; not just one, but two packets of coffee; extremely comfortable bed with overstuffed pillows. The grounds are interesting and attractive, plus the interior works of art and decorations are visually very impressive. I had a greatly comfortable stay and would lay odds that you will also.

Room Tip: As a note of caution, use the sink and shower faucets with care. They turn in opposing directions a...

We hadn't expected anything extraordinary but were wowed by our accommodations at Dinah's--huge room with wet bar and refrigerator, small work/dining table & chairs and a charming view over the lagoon. Staff delightful at both check-in and check-out. Bonus having Trader Vic's for dinner/drinks/dessert and Dinah's Poolside for breakfast. Blessedly quiet, too! Quite a find among the many hotels/motels on El Camino real in Palo Alto.

Room Tip: Deluxe; ask for lagoon view

Thought I would surprise my girlfriend with something ecclectic in the way of lodging for our last few nights in California. This spot definitely delivered. Monster-sized rooms and super comfortable bedding. Great bathroom set-up too.

Front desk staff were spot on and very professional. They really took care of us and took pains to make sure we visit them again when beck in the area. Last big positive is that they're in a great location within easy access to everything Palo Alto has to offer. We'll be back!

I went up to Palo Alto to be with my father who was having surgery at the Veteran's Hospital. I stayed at Dinah's because of the fine reviews on Tripadvisor and I was not disappointed. The room was "retro", but clean and quiet, with subtle little extras (like daily apples and chocolates and glass glasses) to separate it from a standard motel. The bathroom in my room was large and had been re-done in the not-too-distant past. The bed was super comfortable with nice, new bedding. There were a few items in the in-room fridge that were actually reasonably priced (unlike the $7 Budweisers in most hotel rooms). The wi-fi worked well whenever I wanted to use it. The property is nicely landscaped with plants around fish ponds. Everyone I met from the hotel staff was courteous and professional. I also walked over to Trader Vic's for happy hour, and they have great appetizers and adult beverages at fair prices. The property is also a short drive from downtown Palo Alto. I highly recommend Dinah's and will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Most of the buildings are two-story, so be sure to ask for a room on the floor that best suits your...

From the road, this place looks like a hotel. And it's connection with the on-premesis Trader Vic's restaurant may seem questionable. Odd too that the front desk staff seemed exclusively male. But this is a great, great old-school place with giant, comfortable rooms and all the bells and whistles. Probably the best hotel stay I've had this year.

They are also pet-friendly, and their pet fee is not particularly exorbitant. (Like many places now, they charge a single pet fee regardless of how long you're staying, so be sure to check it if you're only staying one night.)

Also, many of the rooms have gorgeous little sitting areas facing one of their koi-filled ponds (if you don't like the sound of a running brook, avoid these rooms.) But if you want one, I believe they are most of the rooms starting with #500 and low odd # rooms starting with #600 (for instance #605.) Obviously, you can also ask.

A really unusual and brilliant place to stay in an area that now has its share of cookie-cutter luxury, but nothing, nothing like this. I cannot say enough good about it!

Room Tip: Most of the rooms in the #500 range and odd # rooms starting with #600 (at least low-numbered) ones...
