“Excellent garliccy salad dressing”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

Dinner. We were starving and went about 9PM.
I'm Veggie...
Added ambience; candle on the table.
The guacamole was chunky, with garlic etc. Great.
The Salad dressing must have had 5 whole bulbs of garlic, it was excellent!
The beans were good but does not measure up to El Burro in Campbell....but nothing does.
Will go back for the salad and guacamole! Addicted to garlic!
Worth a visit if you like Mexican.

“Good Mexican Food for Dinner”
Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

Visiting family in Palo Alto, the consensus for dinner was let's go to Sol. There were five of us, so we had to wait a few minutes. Once at our table the service was very friendly. My only complaint, minor as it is, is that they did not take a drink order before they asked us for our dinner order. As a result the drinks came with our dinners. The food, though, was excellent. No complaints there at all. The price for five dinners and drinks was very reasonable. I would definitely go there again.

“Very busy place and good food”
Reviewed November 28, 2013

Palo Alto Sol is one of the busiest places on California Avenue and can often be crowded and quite noisy. That said, it is worth dining at. Service is efficient though inevitably you may have a wait if the restaurant is full. The menu is extensive and the staff can accommodate particular requests and vegetarian options. The enchiladas and burritos are definitely good and other dishes looked great. Prices are not cheap but are 'fair' compared to other restaurants in Palo Alto. Most seating is indoors though there a few tables in the entance way. Overall I would say that this place is definitely worth going to for a tasty Mexican meal.

“Fair prices for FANTASTIC food!”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Fair prices for FANTASTIC food! It's owned by the same people who own Vive Sol in Mountain View, which is also a five-star experience.

Their enfrijoladas ($14) are a vegetarian entree to die for, although I had to ask for it specially since it didn't appear on the menu. My fiance's mole enchiladas (also $14) had him dancing in his seat!

All of their food has so much flavor, and even their chips taste better than chips at other Mexican restaurants. This place is always hopping, and it's easy to see why when you taste their food! This past visit, we had friendly service from every staff member we met, even on an extremely busy evening. I can't wait to come back to one or both of these locations!

“Sit-down Mexican, but nothing special”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

The menu and food were OK, but not outstanding. Noise made conversations nearly impossible for the seven of us in our party, especially for those at the far ends of the table. The place is a step up from Taco Bell, with a more extensive menu, but not worthy of a really great rating. The burrito verde I ordered was good, and the serving size adequate. Service was OK, but not outstanding; it seemed like the servers literally had a lot on their plates, having to each take care of a large number of tables. On the more positive side, the prices didn't look too bad.
