“Great food and atmosphere”

I was in town for a conference and a friend and I stumbled across this place. Great wine selection and the food was amazing! Would definitely go back when in the area.

“Great place for a business lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2014

Cafe Pro Bono has really good food at reasonable prices and best of all it is quiet enough to have a conversation so it is wonderful for a business lunch. Joist off of California Avenue, it is conveniently located. The waiters are very attentive.

“Excellent food - even better service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday when we were in a hurry, and the staff was extremely accommodating as well as solicitous in an unobtrusive way. You so seldom find any sort of business any more, let alone a restaurant, that truly seems to want customers and actually behave that way. As an added plus, the food was delicious (my wife had the porcini mushroom linguini and I had a chicken Caesar salad) and the added ambience of hearing the staff chatting amiably in Italian was delightful. While this place is not as upscale (or pricey) as Spalti's up the street, it was a winner for us, and I highly recommend it.

“Good Italian food, attentive service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

In the negative side, the function room we were in lacked ambiance, and decent air conditioning. On the plus side it was a different story withe the food. We had a mix of appetizer, "Susan's downfall" was my favourite. I had Veal Picatta for my entree, which was lovely, and finished with a delicous apple torte. The service was attentive without being to overpowering or rushed

“Fully Priced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

Went there on a Sunday night at 8:30, and were not told when making the reservation that the kitchen closed at 9. This meant that the main courses and starters were dumped on the table at the same time - very cavalier. As for the quality, the Carpaccio was a small portion given its price.
The rabbit main course featured a lovely cream sauce. No desserts sampled because the kitchen staff had left!
