It was my wife's birthday and we went to a wonderful Jazz show at Yoshi's and she felt like a nice desert. So we walked in there admittedly at 10:25pm (On a Saturday Night, btw, Dec 30th 2006) and asked for dessert, and the maitre de told us the kitchen was closed in a curt manner. Then my wife asked if we could just get some dessert and once again the rude answer.

You know, it's a service industry and if two people come in and want a bowl of ice cream because it's her birthday, they can at least be civil.

I would never eat here. Go to Max's in San Francisco for terrific service, food that's done right late into the evening.

This place should go back to Hospitality School -- the key word being "Hospitality."

Had a rueben sandwich, and would pass on it. Big portions just not that tasty.

Max's Stanford is going downhill fast.

Our last 3 visits have been marked by strangely bland food, glacial service (40 + minutes to get food once ordered, and over 90 mins total) and bored employees who lack the enthusiasm of the traditional Max's servers.

The portions are generous as always, but who wants leftovers of greasy and tasteless sandwiches and pasta? esp. at Max's prices, which are not cheap.

Palo Alto has many other family restaurants with better food and a better experience.

Great atmosphere, great food, extensive menu, great service and at night the servers entertain by singing show tunes...good times! My favorite dishes are their russian cabbage soup and the ruben!
