I've been visiting the Creamery since I was about four years old, and it has yet to disappoint. I love the old diner vibe, and it is situated in a great location downtown. A fun date is to combine it with the old Stanford Theater on University Ave. The service is great, full of the regular waiters who remember you and are always friendly. I have a series of favorite dishes: the Belgian waffle with fruit, potato pancakes, chocolate chocolate milkshake (still the best in Palo Alto, even though the price keeps going up), burger, and onion rings. Just not all at once. My most recent visit was for breakfast, which is probably my favorite.

This is the most dependable Palo Alto restaurant. The food is great and there is service with a smile. The Emerson Street restaurant is the original with all of the original art on the walls, booths with dividers, and extensive menu. If you are visiting or live there and haven't treated yourself to a meal here, get there. You won't be sorry!

This review is for the one in the Stanford Shopping Center which is owned by the same people.

Food: Really great Brioche French Toast--light and with a great taste, comes with real maple syrup.

Service: Very attentive.

Value: The french toast was $9 which is pretty standard but some of their other things are pretty expensive like Oatmeal for $7 ($8.50 if you want fresh fruit!)

Atmosphere: I LOVE the outside. The inside is fine too and just looks like your typical diner.

Conclusion: Great breakfast and outdoor seating with a generally good value.

When my son could eat dairy, we went here regularly, not just for the shakes, but the burgers, chili, etc. Usually quite crowded, as it is well appreciated.

This place is very busy for lunch. There was only a short wait because they are very organized. The staff is on top of things. The food was diner food. We had chili ($7.95), the fish and chips ($13.59 - it was fish fry Friday) and the chicken strips ($10.45). Sodas were refilled frequently ($2.95 each). They did not have a children's menu or smaller sizes for meals. My five year old left a lot uneaten. The food was ok to good. Nothing spectacular. The ice cream was good, but not cheap ($4.85 for two scoops). The service and ice cream were above average, but the food was not. (but not below average either) We would eat here again, but it would only be a destination for us if we wanted ice cream.
