“Really enjoyed the meal and evening, but price didn't align”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

A very enjoyable dinner, but we felt like the bill was about 20% over comparable experiences. At first, we didn't think we'd get a seat because the bar in the front was absolutely packed. With the exception of one employee who was a little chilly/snooty EVERY employee and owner was very warm and inviting. Room was a little loud, but it seemed more high-energy and upbeat versus a cacaphony. We each had a starter, main, dessert and a drink. Some were very, very good while a couple fell flat. Overall it felt like a $50-70 meal before tip, versus a bill in the $80's before tip, especially since it's presented as a pizzeria. So we would recommend this place to friends for an enjoyable and tasty meal, but probably will wait a while before going back because it fell a little short on the price/value ratio.

“Amazing restaurant!!!”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

This is the best Italian place in Palo Alto. Amazing food, warm atmosphere, delicious appetizers, pizzas and desserts, and just a pleasure to visit. I highly recommend it for a fantastic evening. The outdoor seating is just lovely, and the atmosphere inside is fun as well.

“Italian charm; especially the owners”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

We had a delightful time at this new restaurant, made special by the owners and staff. The owners have a history in Palo Alto and have started out on their own to improve on the Italian offering of the neighborhood. They have succeeded. The menu is mostly pizza and pasta with a few entrees available as well.

The Bistecca was good, as was the pasta with mushrooms. Hand made noodles are used on all the pasta dishes.

“Cal Ave is looking up”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

Great place - compliments Bodeguita across the street. Great vibe and buzz about the place. Just opened. Why only 3 stars?

Maybe it's a case of getting things working properly after only being open for a few weeks. However, some of the dishes fell flat. One was quite cold, others exceedingly hot. The risotto was prepared in less than 10 minutes and the whole dish was disappointing. I dare say it resembled nuclear-hot uncle bens rice with pesto. Stodgy and grainy instead of comforting and silky / creamy.

In fairness the starters were very good and the pizzas looked really quite delicious
