My foodie friend and I went to The Sea a couple of weeks ago and we were impressed with the décor, service, taste, quality and care that went into the preparation and presentation of our duck confit salads. But when the waiter politely asked if would care to order a side, say an order of fries for another $10, my astute foodie friend asked about the portion size. The waiter honestly answered that he felt the entrée salad was more of an appetizer size portion and he was so right. We declined the side and enjoyed our very delicious duck confit salad with a wonderful soy vinaigrette, tiny sweet roasted tomatoes and endive but could have eaten twice the portion size. Instead we filled up on the warm baguette and delicious unsalted butter with a small bowl of coarse salt to sprinkle on top. The Sea does give you an amuse bouche that day being a lovely watermelon lime soup and a surprise thank you dessert of banana cotton candy but honestly another half as much of the salad would have meant more. The Sea is a high end addition to the Palo Alto dining scene if your on an expense account...as much as I loved the food there just wasn't enough of it and I won't be back.
