Description: Sister restaurant of Kokkari, Evvia has been serving beautiful and elegant Greek cuisine since 1995. Fabulous fish, savory roasted meats, and sun-soaked vegetables are jazzed up with a spritz of lemon, a little olive oil, and herbs. There is perfection in simplicity.

This hotel was recommended by a client who told me it was his favourite restaurant in Palo Alto. Thinking that Greek food was essentially all grilled meat and copious feta salad, I was sceptical.

Super fresh ingredients and simple straightforward cooking to show those ingredients at their best. We got stuck into the starters (Mezethes) - the Plevrakia was fabulous (grilled lamb riblets with lemon & oregano). Good wine recos too. Together with its top-notch friendly service, this is definitely somewhere you should go if you find yourself in Palo Alto. I walked in off the street and was lucky to get a table, but I'm told booking is pretty much essential.

Busy neighborhood gem, so reserve days in advance. Sound levels reasonable for a completely full restaurant. Couples, families and small groups all seem to fit right in here.

Food and service were both wonderful. Don't let the "Greek" label put you off, this is more Gourmet than traditional Greek.

Grilled Fish and Lamb were spectacular. Very high wine prices, so bring your own and pay the $25 corkage, unless you plan on spending $100 + per bottle ! They were quite gracious about pouring the wine I brought.

Come early as parking is very difficult to obtain.

I can be quite critical about restaurants, and other than the sky high wine prices, I could find nothing to critique here at all.

We only had starters here so mine is surely an incomplete experience. Things that stood out however were the high quality of the ingredients and a slightly disappointing and overpriced wine selection. The lamb was particularly tasty, while a bean based starter was in my opinion completely botched and overcooked - but the overall food experience was well above average.
The decor has style and is well though (even though the sheer size of the table was a bit puzzling, and basically breaks conversation with anyone not sitting directly close to you) and the level of service was very high without turning in your typical "smile to get tip" american experience.
I would surely go back to enjoy the main courses.

Super good food and the restaurant is warm and inviting. Not easy to secure a reservation.
But, always a treat.
