“Crowded, loud, and worth the hassle”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

The Tea Leaf Salad is worth the hype. It was excellent and worth every penny of the $14 price tag. The Lemon Grass Chicken was mediocre.. not flavorful enough and a bit too saucy. The coconut rice was amazing. The restaurant is loud, always crowded, and definitely a scene. It's so loud inside it's hard to have a conversation. If possible, I recommend sitting in the few outside tables. I would definitely recommend a reservation, unless you get there really early or very late. They won't guarantee specific tables, but you can put in a request.

“Always dependable”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

Great value for the money. No matter what you get, and sharing plates is the way to go, get the coconut rice! They have a sister restaurant in San Carlos for those of you north of P Alto.

“Phenomenal Service & Good Food”
Reviewed July 23, 2014 via mobile

Service was top notch all the way. The food was also pretty good, certainly hit the spot. The Tea Leaf salad is not to be missed. The lemongrass chicken was pretty good, as was the curry we had. A yummy treat.

“Good food (not great). Upscale decor (less than classy service).”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

We are huge fans and regular diners of Burmese cuisine. Went last night (Tuesday) with friends for an early dinner. Arrived at 5:30, and right from the get-go the host seemed a bit put-out we dared to arrive without reservations. Anyway, we got seated and the server was quite pushy for us to order and repeatedly came by to move us along throughout our meal. It was a good while before the place pretty much filled up. As others have said, it's noisy, tightly packed, white table clothed, and pricey. Surely the high rent in P.A. adds to their expense. But, the food isn't as great as one can get at other Bay Area places. After this our 3rd visit, we won't likely be back. We will stick to other busy, but cozy and relaxed locales, like Kyusu in SJ, Burma Superstar (SF, Oakland) and The Refined Palate in Orinda.

“Too Noisy, Overpriced, but decent food.”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

Good food, but way too noisy and tables are way too close to each other. Corkage at $25 for a restaurant of this caliber is a definite turn off. Tea leaf salad is way over rated and salty. The mango salad is a far better option with more suttle flavors. The palata is basically an Indian paratha with a coconut chicken curry, that is a tease more than a curry dish that you can enjoy with the palata & it's not cheap at $11. The restaurant needs to revisit the qty of curry they give with the palata. Catfish lacked the flavors, but garlic eggplant was flavorful.
Fried banana dessert was as good as it can get. Two thumbs up to the servers. For the above we paid a bill of $150 just so you have some idea about the prices. Since there are so many good reviews, i would recommend that you try and decide. Cheers.
