“REALLY disappointing!”
Reviewed April 6, 2012

Just got home after having dinner at Bon Vivant.

What a disappointing dinner. The food was almost uniformly very good, but the service and timing was so abysmal as to make the total experience really bad.

We four each ordered an appetizer, which took about 40 minutes to arrive. They were quite good, but the wine was REALLY slow to be opened, and the beer and bread were brought after 22 minutes or so.

The main course was then another 40 minutes to arrive after finishing the first course. It was so SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of our party ordered three courses, and trying to get the third course was a pain.

All in all, I really would not recommend this place!

“In a sea of Palo Alto restaurant mediocrity, this new hidden French gem delivers”
Reviewed November 16, 2011

Went for lunch and wow...what a treat. New family owned small French restaurant located right off University Ave. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Clean and fresh room bathed in sunshine from the large clean windows. Bar, tables and common table seating options. Was shown to long common table immediately and attentive service was maintained throughout meal. Menu is not large, but each fresh/organic/local sourced dish is well prepared by a chef who obviously knows what s/he is doing. One of the best duck confit's I've ever tasted enjoyed (served with savory caramelized fennel root which was out of this world). Mussels were tender and very tasty. Bread was artisanal and fresh. Chocolate pot de crème heavenly. Small but decent wine selection by bottle or glass. I've dinned at most/many of Palo Alto's restaurants - most are expensive and mediocre. Bon Vivant is a welcome exception. I will definitely go back with clients and family.
