“Fabulous spot for brunch celebrations!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

I've had lunch and dinner at Mayfield's before, but brunch is truly amazing. The menu is creative and eclectic. I had the braised lamb with grits, greens and a poached egg. It was indulgent, but light enough that I enjoyed every bite. If you have a special brunch occasion, I highly recommend this spot. You can dine outside also, but it can get chilly. I prefer the booths inside. Kids are welcome, but bring your ipads. They don't provide coloring pages or other activities. Our service was a bit slow, but the restaurant got slammed for brunch. They were kind enough to bring us out a plate of apple fritters. YUM!

If you do go for brunch, you must try the bloody marys. The mix is fresh. The best I've ever had..

Two adults, two kids, $120 for brunch...

“Best salmon ever”

This place has some of the most delicious food in the Palo Alto area. The salmon is out of this world. Highly recommend.

“5 stars for food...but poor service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

We attended on a busy Saturday night, but had reservations through Open Table. We were told that it would be 10 minutes, that the party at our table was "paying their bill.". It was 30 minutes before we were seated. They apologized, and offered us a drink while waiting. Once we sat down......no server. 3 minutes. 5 minutes. 7 minutes, nobody came to greet us. I had to get up and find the manager, he came right over and took our order. The food was delicious. They brought us an extra entree, and then comp'd the entire bill. As a result we'll be back, but if the service isn't better we'll have to stay away. A pity.

“Comfortable restaurant, but food mediocre and service horrid.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

The beginning of the evening was auspicious.
We arrived early and drank a nice bottle of Burgundy at the bar.
Seating was comfortable, and the restaurant had a nice buzz despite a bunch of empty seats.

Everything from there was downhill.
The food was mediocre and the service rushed everything.
It felt like they were trying to speed us along, very unpleasant.

The waitress had all the delicacy (and looks) of a lumberjack.
I could recommend 3 dishes to NOT order, based on our party of 4's experience.
Shortrib, Rigatoni: don't bother. The burger was OK.
The green salad was great, and the coffee was rancid.
Avoid.

“"Delicious meal in a friendly atmosphere"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2012

We had a meal here before a Friday show. We were seated at the counter since the restaurant was full. Elina was our server. She was delightfully friendly and accommodating. I had the Friday special, chicken pot pie. Great comfort food for a rainy night. The chicken inside was very tasty. My husband had steak which was amazing. The pumpkin soup was full of flavor. The mocha coffee is served in a bowl! They make their own chocolate and marshmallows! Everything was so fresh. My daughter was given her own small complimentary hot chocolate with a homemade marshmallow. I loved everything about this restaurant. Elina shared a lot about their menu and how it changes with the seasons. We will definitely eat here again.
