“Best Breakfast!”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Our breakfast at Mayfield is one of the best I've ever had. Everything here is taken up a notch. The meal begins with complimentary Madeleine cookies. Delicious and fresh, I am now a fan of this cookie that I've never enjoyed before. If you have a child in tow (or if you're fun-loving hot chocolate aficionado), order the hot chocolate. It is a bowl full of the creamiest decadence topped with a gigantic homemade marshmallow that melts into a sweet gooey foam. My daughter was in heaven.

Order their signature hotcake for a one-of-a-kind "pancake" experience. When the server said, "Think pizza," when she referred to the size, she was not kidding. This is a hotcake on steroids- an inch and a half of fluffiness encased in a crisp shell and topped with a crushed pecan maple butter. YUM!!! The side oder of ham was over-the-top but so worth it.

“My favorite in Palo Alto, for breakfast dinner and picking up a roll”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

The bakery has excellent breads and breakfast rolls--not as into the cookies though they look good. Breakfast is exceptionally good and dinner and lunch have never disappointed, even with something as simple as a burger. Simply the best.

“Fancy and great ambience, food is just average.”
Reviewed October 1, 2012 via mobile

The ambience is great and the highlight of the meal was the bread.

I had the St. Louis ribs and fried pork belly. Both a little bland and incorrectly prepared.

The pork belly was Luke warm borderline cold and the St. Louis ribs were soaked with sauce (I think they are supposed to be dry ribs with sauce).

We had an overly eager upwelling waiter that kept pushing us to order and on his pace. Overall, the food lacked flavor and was underwhelming for the premium palo alto prices.

“Two pieces of lettuce for $15”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

A group of us went together and I decided to try their salad for $15. It was essentially two pieces of butter lettuce topped by mayo. I had to go elsewhere to have a meal afterwards. If you do go, order a pizza because those are more substantial.

“Very good, but expensive.”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

The fritters (cherry or apple), cottage potatoes, toast, and french omelette are my favorite dishes. They list the local farms that they source their food from on the menu. The food is expensive especially breakfast/brunch, but very good and the service is great.
