“Truly a beautiful campus”
Reviewed September 21, 2009

We spent several hours in the morning touring the campus of Stanford University. Truly, this is one of the most beautiful campuses in North America. The architecture, layout of the buildings, and landscaping are inspiring. HIghlights of our tour included the Stanford Memorial Church and the Cantor Center for Visual Arts.

We rented bikes at a bike shop on campus near the book store. This turned out to be a great way to get around. You can also take a student led tour which starts at the Visitor Center.

“Incredibly beautiful campus!”
Reviewed January 1, 2008

Stanford University is home to one of the most beautiful college campuses in the world. Built as a mixture of mission and Romanesque architecture, Stanford is distinctly Californian. Located about 45 minutes outside San Francisco, the campus is surrounded by foothills and other small mountain ranges on several sides as well as the East Bay.

The best way to see the campus is to take a student-led walking tour (tours are at 11 and 3:15 daily). I was impressed with the knowledge of these students, and you could tell that they loved the university.

The highlights of the campus include: Memorial Church and the Main Quad, the Rodin Sculpture garden (apparently the largest collection of Rodin sculptures outside of France), the Cantor Center for the Visual Arts (a free on campus art museum), and the Hoover Observation Tower (costs $2/person to go to the top). The campus is huge, so it's also fun just to walk around and see the numerous fountains and foliage. Remember to bring your walking shoes!

If you're in the San Francisco/San Jose area, I would definitely recommend a trip to Stanford. It's worth visiting at least once!

“Beautiful campus”
Reviewed April 15, 2007

Stanford is one of the most beautiful campuses.

The Rodin outdoor sculpture garden is outside of the Cantor Arts Museum.

The Cantor Arts Museum cafe also has a yummy organic sandwhiches, soups and salads.

The Hoover Tower has an elevator you can go up and see the entire area from high up.

The Dish is a well know hike that will also take you up high over the area and it's a lovely walk with a nice view.
