“Heaven”
Reviewed August 16, 2014

Never been to one of these..... probably .5 miles from the HGI.

If you like fresh salad and soup - this place was GREAT. Extremely nice people, huge variety of food, very clean, fairly priced. I tried 5 different types of soup and they were all really good.

It was freakin' great...just what I wanted.

Great chain.

“Fresh, Crispy and Delicious Food”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

Are you in the mood for something healthy? Salads, soups, baked potatoes and pasta(so so)? You can get it here. The place was spotless, the food was fresh, a they had a dessert that was terrific! Fresh war pineapple upside down cake ummmm! There went my calorie count. Not cheap but quality seldom is. Best salads in town.

“Solid SP location”
Reviewed July 29, 2014

This Palmdale location was a surprise for me to find, since I didn't think there were any SP's in this area. This is one of the newer locations, and the layout is much more modern than some of the older ones back down in the LA area. No waiting and got seated right away, that was unusual for me as SPs are usually crowded and having folks line up to be seated.

Anyway, the food was fresh as usual. I had the 9.59 Club Veg deal so it was nice to finally get a meal that will be expensed.

“Great Lunch”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

Really enjoyed our lunch here. As another poster indicated, probably one of the healthiest all you can eat options.

Had not been to one of these for years. This one had a more warehouse, funky feel then I remember, but the ambiance was great, and in spite of the kind of warehouse like feel, they'd obviously paid attention to sound control.

My biggest "complaint", is the attempt at social engineering was a bit confusing to an essentially new patron. They organized the salad bar so that easily, you just go through it once, kind of to create your pre-dinner salad, then the real all you can eat is the soup, bread, pasta and dessert, which is more easily accessible for return trips. Note that I'm not saying you couldn't go back through the salad bar, but just that the design made it inconvenient (I think, intentionally). But the revers of this was that we had no idea what was beyond the salad bar, and probably loaded up more on salad then otherwise would have (might also have been some intentional social engineering).

This is only an issue your first time, and once you understand the program you will know that soup, bread and more await beyond the salad.

Also, I'm not a fan of the raised prices on the weekends that many of these places do, and the Soup Plantation is no exception. Not sure if there is more out, but I'd rather have the option of having the normal fair for the normal price on the weekend. I understand, its a supply and demand thing, but doesn't seem to be universal in all restaurants, just common in all you can eat restaurants.

But we are already planning to go again when we pass through Lancaster/Palmdale next time.

“Interesting Place for Lunch”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

This was a first visit, but I understand why this chain is so popular. Salads are fresh and tasty, pasta and bread offerings are also right out of the oven. Good meal at a very reasonable price.
