On top of a daily resort fee (even though amenities are limited), they add a "wellness tax" to every expense, including F&B! Workout facility is sub-par. When you walk into lobby it is small and cold. We were upgraded to a bungalow which was great as Starwood gold members we have never been upgraded! i was so excited but that ended when we got to the outdated stark and cold bungalow-I wanted to check out and go next door to the beautiful La Serena! But I did not want to upset my husband by moving-we used our points(what a waste) The bungalow was so cold and bathroom was so small,couch had stains on it and furnishing was terrible. We spent no time in room just to sleep-which I could not sleep i was so grossed out! i wrote an email to hotel and never got a response!

It would appear that midcentury modern design is perhaps not to your personal liking. Design interpretation is a very personal opinion and feeling, understandably. The lobby with the striking yellow and white mosaic wall design is one of the most photographed locations on the property.

Cool retro ‘60s and ‘70s theme. Cheap fixtures and furniture used to achieve the retro theme..could go a bit higher quality. Kinda weird entrance/lobby, and dining squeezed around main small pool. Walking distance to most everything.

As you mentioned, our location is indeed superb, with our over four acres of manicured grounds and three swimming pools located in the heart of downtown Palm Springs.
One's interpretation of design is such a personal opinion. We are pleased you felt the mid century design to be "cool retro".

We had an amazing experience working with Pam and Dayanna on our wedding. We were always treated kindly and our expectations were exceeded. We couldn't have asked for a better venue. My wife and I are extremely happy and can't wait to come back!

My husband and I have stayed at the Avalon several times and we always love it -- it's our favorite place in Palm Springs! The bungalows are peaceful and the grounds are meticulously maintained. Everyone we encountered on the staff was helpful and friendly. The food/drinks at Chi Chi are great as well. I also appreciate that the hotel is easy walking distance to downtown.
The only thing that bothers me at the Avalon is the use of plastic cups for all the drinks by the pool. I understand they cannot have glass by the pool, but it would be wonderful if they had reusable plastic cups to avoid environmentally damaging single use plastics. I probably would have ordered more drinks during my stay if so! I was happy to see, however, that they are using paper straws -- that's definitely a great step.
All that said, it's a little paradise in Palm Springs and we look forward to our next stay there.

Avalon is a gem of a hotel...like you're staying in your own oasis! The grounds were beautiful, the food excellent and the staff were outstanding! John, Josh & Natalia are amazing bartenders and also so kind! Norbert will take excellent care of you and make sure you're feeling welcome & served. Nubia is one of the most talented massage therapist I've encountered; don't miss a chance to visit her at the spa! Next time you're in Palm Springs, stay at Avalon!
