We stayed one night here on a trip from Yosemite national forest to Phoenix. This hotel was a great counterpoint to a summer camping trip. The rooms are interesting without being precious; we didn't have to worry that our 4-year old was going to ruin something. This place has a casual "beach house" vibe that is welcoming. The open-late and warm pool was a treat to camping-weary bones. We ate two meals at the on-site diner, for the sake of laziness...the food is good, if not a bit expensive. The mac and cheese was killer amazing, yummmm. Their breakfast was unremarkable, but so very convenient. We stayed here on a summer special, if you are considering this hotel, visit the official palm springs website or check the "specials" page of the ACE website for offers...we saved quite a bit to make this hotel very worthwhile. The hotel was swarmed, and I mean swarmed, by the specimen that is known as the "hipster;" but we are not so offended by this. If you are, don't come. This is certainly a "party" hotel, but we were able to get a good night's rest. It wasn't prohibitively loud during our stay, despite a DJ at the hotel bar. Note they do not allow outside alcohol at all. The rooms do not have coffee makers, and buying coffee at the cafe to-go is rather expensive. They have an on-site mini dog park, and they allow pets. Good hotel experience, I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: If you can get a first floor room they have great patios. We had a second floor room, no patio.

We made the mistake of visiting over Memorial Day Weekend. The weekend days were totally loud - the walls are thin, and our neighbors partied all night long. I kept calling the hotel to get them to quiet down, but it didn't do much good. Unfortunately, every tiny move they made was amplified by the concrete floors. Also, the party pool vibe is very drunk and loud and annoying.
However, when the party crew moved on, it was heaven! Typical rad Ace decor, great service, great local, sustainable food, overall totally gracious and stunning. Extra comfy bed with mountains of pillows, good gym, great Rudy's Barbershop unisex toiletries! We had a room with a courtyard and a fireplace, which couldn't have been a more mellow place to hang out. We wanted to order in-room-grill-your-own-tacos, but ran out of time.

Room Tip: Avoid the party/holiday weekends to best enjoy this hotel, unless you're 21, from the OC and liv...

This is a great party hotel, but if you're worried about noise, ask for a room away from the main "party" pool. We stayed in the 400 building that is next to the "quiet" pool. The area has a nice grassy spot to lay out or have a little picnic. Our room was a patio room that had ample room for guests to enjoy the space with you. My only complaint is the main door to the rooms slam with a vengeance and there are no black out curtains for sunlight. While at the pool, there is wait staff that will take orders for drinks and food while you lounge on a floaty...HEAVEN! We went the the Kings Highway restaurant for an awesome breakfast. I had the Breakfast ALT sandwich that was amazing!

We've only had dinner at The Ace so can't comment on the rooms/hotel experience. We have gone there for late nite dining outside many times and it is totally relaxed and always fun. Yes its hipster and young and we're not but the food is really good, lots of menu choices (Im vegetarian and my husband is not) and friendly waitstaff. You feel like you can just hang out as long as you want, take a walk around and enjoy the large, open pool area. Its a great option from the bad restaurants on the strip and the other fussy hotel restaurants and great to see good looking young people.

Two friends and I stayed for three nights during the off season. The first two nights were during the week and were just what the doctor ordered. We spent long lazy days paddling around in the pool (and having cocktails delivered to us in the water!), hanging out on our patio, and exploring the area. Then the weekend came. All of the sudden, the vibe went from "restful resort" to "party palace". Loud techno music echoed from other rooms all through the night, and groups of party people wandered around aimlessly, yelling and cackling in the manner of their tribe.

What I loved: The room -- a king lounge room, which had two twins, a king, and a great deck --
was fantastic. Great layout (the twin beds were tucked behind a curtain and could be made up as an enormous couch), great comfy, casual vibe with the fabric-covered walls and wood accents. The bathroom was wonderful, too: the bathroom had one of those floor-to-ceiling glass enclosures (no mucking around with a shower curtain) and quality bath products. I appreciated not having to mess around with travel-size shampoo and conditioner; the products were in full-size pump bottles. The on-site restaurant (King's Highway) was tasty and reasonably priced. The landscaping was thoughtfully done, and I loved all the little tables and niches that invite passers-by to sit down and relax.

What I didn't love: The service at the on-site bar (The Amigo Room) was truly terrible. We waited more than ten minutes for a drink despite the fact that there were two people behind the bar and we were the only ones requiring service. There was a palpable hipper-than-thou attitude from the bar staff. And I am pretty hip (if I do say so myself)! I shudder to think how people who don't fit the "cool people" mold are treated. The aforementioned late-night noise was also a bummer. And although I enjoyed the room, it felt overpriced for the size; it felt like we were paying champagne prices for a domestic sparkling wine experience.

All in all, I will very likely be back ... as long as I can avoid the weekend.

Room Tip: The king lounge rooms are all on the second floor and have a balcony overlooking the compound or the...

We booked one room with two qeensize-beds for 3 persons and we got a room with one kingsize bed and two beds for children. unfortunately we have been 3 adults. To change the room was not possible. I'm 1,90 m and the bed was 1,80 m, what a great night. There were only 2 tovels for us and it took ages, till we got some more. The pool was totaly overcrowded with kids, they had drinks and they also smoked in the pool. The water was dirty. We booked via internet and the price was 165 $. When we arrived at the hotel, we had to pay an extrafee of 40$ for the third "childrenbed" an a socalled "hotelfee" for using the pool, the WiFi and bycicles, which were not available. That was pure cheating. We have been bound not to bring private food or drinks into the hotel. The fine was 50$ for a breach of this rule. The reason therefor is, they are dealers for hard liquors, there is wide range of gins, wodkas, whiskys and tequilas in the shelf in front of the mirrow in the open bathroom. You can buy liquors, but there is no pricelist. The next morning I saw a young girl paying the check at the reception. She turned pale, cause the check was 1500 $ for two nights. Poor girl! All in all, if you are young an if you want party all night long, go to ACE, if not, take another accomodation.

I'm extremely sorry to hear about your experience at Ace! Can you let me know how to contact you directly, I would like to resolve the issues you referred to about 'fines,' especially since we do not charge fines - if there has been some sort of misunderstanding, I would love to rectify it. We often set up extra beds for guests but as yet do not charge for this, as well as for outside food and beverage. (we are bound by law to not allow outside alcohol but do not fine people for doing so) Es tut mir wirklich Leid! My email address is jason.dibler@acehotel.com

thank you,

Jason

Went here last weekend to celebrate a wedding with friends. Experience overall was good, but there were little things that I found irritating and that should be acknowledged before you book. Room prices are a little high for what you get. We got a garden room which consisted of a smallish room with a king sized bed and a garden patio out the door, blocked off from the rest of the hotel which was very nice. The rooms are very retro with some neat additions, but not "warm" by any means. There is a $20 resort fee to use the pool, which is not included in the room rental price. There is some parking inside the hotel boundaries, but we had to park outside the hotel on a back road because the hotel was so full. Also, the drinks at the bar/restaurant are really expensive. If you are planning a drinking day by the pool, just be prepared for a large tab. There were two weddings the weekend we went and on Saturday the pool area was so packed you could barely get into the pool, let alone get a lounge chair. Food at the restaurant was very good and for the most part service was ok, but not sure any of it was worth the price. The LA hipsters definitely take over the hotel and clearly they do not mind the high prices. Just be prepared for lots of tattoos and skinny jeans! have to say, other than hotels and the dessert, there isn't much in Palm Springs, the shops are nothing to write home about. Hotel isn't walking distance to restaurants and bars, unless you don't mind walking 30 minutes in 105 degree heat.

Room Tip: Garden patio rooms are the way to go!
